I do the IV "push". (Toppers, this is a different way to do Cef. than a "drip bag")
It's extremely easy. My supplies all come via overnight mail. Your powdered Cef. is in one vial, your diluant (sterile water) is in another.
You draw your diluant into your syringe, then shoot it into the vial with the powder. Swirl, swirl, mix, mix.
Then you redraw with the original syringe, remove the needle and the syringe screws right on to the PICC line. (You do this, of course, after your first saline flush. My saline comes in a prefilled syringe so all I do is simply screw it on.)
Then a flush afterward. The biggest thing is to go slow with the med. (I go slow with my flushes as well.) I set a timer and push 1 mg. every four minutes.
Let me know if you have any questions.
