For those who supplement with this....I'm guessing you were low? So what is the best day to check this out with bloodwork?
According to what I read online, on days 1-14 the levels are low, then they start to go up days 15-28.
So would I want to do the testing during days 1-14 (because that is when it's supposed to be a certain level), or days 15-28, to see if it IS really going up instead of staying flat?
I could see the rationale between either. My LLMD just wanted me to take Progesterone without any testing, but I insisted on a script to get the levels tested, because it just seemed logical to me, in case later on I wonder what my status was.
But now I'm asking myself when I should go in to get the test done.
Since my LLMD didn't want it done at all, it seems silly for me to call them and ask when to have it done. So that's why I'm asking people that maybe have more of an opinion about all this.
Thank you.

When I had my hormones checked my primary doc had me come in on the 3rd day of my period. My Gyn agreed that this was the best time.

Before Lyme, my husband and I were trying to have a baby. To test that I had the necessary hormones:
On Day 3 of my period he tested for the Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH).
5-7 Days before my period started he tested for Progesterone. He stated that progesterone is supposed to start to rise after ovulation (egg release) usually day 12 to 14 of cycle to support pregnancy if the egg is fertilized. Progesterone is needed to get prenant and carry a baby full-term. That is why the Gyn had me test Progesterone 5 to 7 days before starting period. For me it turned out I was low.

I supplement with the progesterone cream right after ovulation. So it makes sense that 5 to 7 days before your period is a good time to check it.

Okay, thanks. It sounds like that is what I'll do then...5-7 days before my period.
I did have a miscarriage a couple months ago. I was able to get pregnant (it was an accident), but I miscarried very early on. Nothing expelled on it's own though.
My pregnancy hormone got pretty high, but they never tested my progesterone. Could low progesterone have been a factor?
That is another reason I thought I should test now....in case we decide to have a baby in the next few years, and this ends up being the only time I'm not on the Progesterone pills.

Yes, day 20 if the cycle is 28 days. Larrian Gillespie has written some things on that too. (author)Her view is that progesterone gets high because of ovulation, and if progesterone does not get high enough, that happens when you actually did not ovulate (and just went through the motions)
But with lyme, all kinds of hormones can be off.....I have not seen any answer involving lyme from her I think.

My cycle is normally 26 days, maybe 27. So perhaps I'll do the test on day 19 instead of day 20?
