Irregular beats were the first thing I noticed when I got sick more than a decade ago. No other symptoms but that. As the years went on I got more run down, digestion went to hell, then the arthritis and cognitive symptoms.
I have been treating for 3 yrs now with Doxy and Zithromax, now on to Rifampin and Zithromax.
One thing I have noticed is that suddenly almost every time I swallow or turn my neck, lie back in my chair or on the couch, or lay down to go to sleep on my side, I will get irregular beats. Triggered very easily now.
I am trying to discern if it is due to some growth in my neck, thyroid that is irritating my vagal nerve OR if it is just the vagal nerve that is inflamed, or reflux, hiatal hernia etc..
Could also be inflamed sac around heart but my recent Echo was ok.
Anyone have this get worse with treatment? I am trying to figure out how to solve the problem!!! Scary. Seems to really be related to how I move my neck, upper torso and back, like something is irritating the vagal nerve.
Any thoughts???
Thanks!

But my dysautonomia symptoms were: Weakness upon standing, post exertional fatigue, that kind of thing.
I don't have that anymore. I'm in the gym 4 x a week with no fatigue afterwards.
This is specifically irregular beats caused by swallowing or turning my neck or torso.
Any more ideas?
Thanks!

For me it started with tachycardia due to an MVP, then over a few yrs. it progressed to PSVT attacks.
My MVP was missed on Echo for 12 yrs. because I was not told to spare liquids for half a day before the test.
I had symptoms just like you describe when I was put on the wrong heart drugs, ie. Procardia, Cardizem.
Once I got a new heart doc who put me on Clonidine and Verapamil instead, it stopped.
My TCM doc said I should stop wearing dangling earrings that touch my neck because the metal is irritating my vagus nerve and raising my blood pressure. I tend to think that is BS, but it may be worth a try.

It could still be Dysautonomia in some form. The vagus nerve gets irritated by acid reflux and can cause these symptoms. I had esophageal spasms last summer that triggered palpitations. I went to the Er for them 2x and it was PAC's and PVC's from the spasm in my stomach and esophagus.I had about 30 irregular beats per hour.
When you calm down the acid reflux, the irregular beats should calm down with it. Try elevating your bed 6 inches at the head. They have those plastic blocks at walmart for that, and dont eat 4 hours before bedtime. I still get these spasms when my acid reflux acts up. You might want to get an Esophageal motitily test where they stick a tube down your nose into your esophagus and measure the pressure to see if you spasm. Ask a GI doc about this.
