I've been on Florastor for about 4 weeks now ~ 2 per day as maintenance.
It started out that while I was on Biaxin XL for round 2, I developed ABX induced colitis. I've had this condition since about 1992 when I had been on some pretty aggressive ABX treatments for chronic kidney, bladder and UT infections (thinking back now, I know these were all lyme related but didn't know at the time).
My supply of Florastor is getting low and before I invest more $$ into it, I was wondering if anyone else taking it had bloated feelings or indigestion or cravings?
I eat a very strict diet of whole natural foods, totally sugar and starch free. I should not be having cravings or feelings of bloat in my gut so not sure the Florastor can cause this?
This only started since I started Florastor.....thoughts?

Theralac is a brand of probiotic, Florastor is a beneficial yeast. They are different. Florastor is essential is you have a history of c.diff and is used for the prevention of c.diff in patients taking antibiotics for lyme disease.
It can cause bloating etc. Try reducing the dose, or taking Florastor kids version. You can take Florastor and probiotics like Theralac together.
The reason LLMD's and GI's suggest Florastor over other brands of s.boulardii is because it has been studied and proven to colonize the colon and protect against c.diff. It is now on the formulary of hospitals for all the patients in there who get c.diff.
I was on Biaxin XL for round 2 but round 2 it caused ABX induced colitis and I went off it immediately. I was not tested for C-diff and not sure if the two are the same????
I had to take Asacol again (for intestinal inflammation) with Florastor (4-6 a day) but now I am on a maintenance dose of 1-2 Florastor and off Asacol.
At that time I also started back on Flagyl (3 a day) for the ABX induced colitis and LLMD decided to add in Levaquin due to my BART related symptoms.
I also take PB8 probiotic, eat Fage 2% yogurt. I follow a very low carb diet and have for well over a year. When I started to get a bloated gut I knew it had to be either the Levaquin or Florastor.

I am getting constipation from saccharomyces boulardii (same ingredient in Florastor)
I read that in some people, it can cause constipation and bloating. I have been very uncomfortable since taking it.
I am going to drastically reduce my dose. I must be getting too much of it. I am even considering stopping it all together.
If I were you, I would either order the kids' version, or buy another brand that is cheaper, and dump some out of the capsules, to get a smaller dose.
I don't think you need to worry about "potency" with the cheaper brands, since it is already having such an effect. That is just my 2 cents.
I will come back with a link to my post from yesterday, where I put a quote from a website listing the side effects of saccharo.

Okay, so if you are back on levaquin that can be causing the bloating as well. Your GI flora is very disturbed and you need to do everything you can to keep it in balance. Flagyl works for c.diff. Flagyl and oral (not IV) Vancomycin work for c.diff. PB8 is very poor quality, you should try Theralac, UltraFLora, or VSL #3
