My digestion was fabulous before starting this Saccharomyces boulardii. I was "going" at least twice a day, and it was healthy.

I started the Saccharo because I'm going to be starting Clindamycin very soon, and the Saccharo prevents C. Diff.

I have noticed since starting the Saccharo, I'm getting weird gurgling sounds, followed by mild pain in that area of the colon that gurgled.

And now, I'm much more constipated. It almost seems like this stuff is making my digestion way worse. Is that possible? Could this stuff just not be good for me?

I do take lots of expensive probiotics.

I'm using the Jarrow brand for the Saccharo, but I chose it because it still had a ton of good reviews online.

Thanks for any help.

Okay, I just found this under warnings:

"Constipation, increased thirst, flatulence (gas), and bloating have been associated with Saccharomyces boulardii use. Use cautiously in patients with constipation."

I can still "go," it is just more difficult. And I feel constipated, and I have mild pain in certain parts of my colon throughout the day. I'm not sure if it is because of the constipation (things trying to move), or if the pain is a separate problem with this saccharo.

Should I stick with it, and see if it gets better, or is this a red flag that I should just stop it?

Okay, so it sounds like this does happen to some people, huh?

Yeesh, I was worried about not getting enough of it. Guess I actually need less. Interesting.

I'm very surprised it ended up doing this to me!

The fact that it was giving me a mild pain feeling is making me wonder if this is a bad thing for me even in low doses?

Oh well, I guess I'll open up the capsules and dump some out, and see if the bad symptoms go away.

Thank you!

Hoosiers, this is pretty common with me too....I am on Florastor. I noticed my gut making some really loud gurgling sounds yesterday that were painful at times. I also have been getting a very full feeling on the left side of my abdomen and not sure what is causing that but it started when I started Florastor.

Thanks for linking this post to mine as I had missed this one.

my doc gave me some magnesium oxide. I take two 500mg. before bed. It was a life saver! I've tried magnesium, and teas before but this one really hit the spot( no pun intended!) No more constipation.

Have a look on the recent link posted by Keebler on Dr K's website.....he says to take Florastor Kids and not the adult Florastor because of an additive.
