My daughter was diagnosed with lyme on september 3

and she was started on abx immediately. Our

pediatrician Rx'ed 3 weeks, we found this site and

printed out Dr. B's guidelines and went back and

convinced her to Rx 3 more weeks.

We then went to see a specialist in S.F. and he

Rx'ed an additional 6 weeks of amoxicillin.

My question is, can you still get the erythema

migrans after 6 weeks of amoxicillin. My daughter

has a new rash on her elbow and her stomach, which

is a little worrisome since she is supposed to be

at the end of a six week cylcle of abx

Yes, Yes, Yes! I freaked out and immediately thought it was a reinfection. My son, who is almost 5 started treatment. He has never had an EM rash because he is congenital. Sure enough, about 3 months into abx and he had a HUGE EM rash in his groin area.

My LLMD took a pic for her records and said, "yep. That's what happens some times."

Hang in there. Treat, treat, treat. And, in my mom opinion, I would NOT stop with 6 weeks of abx, even with a fresh bite. I would have my pediatrician consult with an LLMD and treat for a few more months, or switch to the Cowden or a homeopathic. And tax loads and loads of probiotics.

We are on a 3 month treatment plan, it just seemed

to me that after 6 weeks, she would have been

unlikely to get more EM rashes.

We are going to

continue to give her the ABX, don't get me wrong.

Do the rashes mean that she still has an active

infection? Even after what most LLMD's consider

enough treatment?

Take plenty of pictures! Yes, it happened to me. It was the ONLY EM rash I ever had... YEARS after being infected with Lyme. I believe I was on Amox?? And suddenly I got an EM rash on my side. Strangely enough, it wasn't even a circle. It was a perfect triangle!

I did't start getting "EMs" until after I started ABX. I only had a patchy kind of rash on my lower leges about six months before I became ill.

My LLMD says he says all kinds of rashes pop up during treatment.
