I haven't been on antibiotics yet but I did have a candida test come back high. Do the lyme doc, other than very obvious yeast problems(thrush), do blood tests periodically to look for systemic yeast problems. I am not returning to the doc who gave me the first one. He was out of network with my insurance and was giving me unneccessary testing that cost me $900.

My lyme doc looked at my tongue at every appt. That's how he could diagnose yeast. Also, he asked me a few questions.

I got it a number of times during treatment. He treated it each time with diflucan and told me how to clear it from my mouth (scrub the mouth with peroxide, then immediately sprinkle a probiotic capsule on the tongue and let it remain there as long as possible to prevent regrowth of yeast).

He gave me the yeast prevention diet at the first appt and expected me to follow it to a T. Plus I was to drink sugar-free kefir daily and take good, refrigerated probiotics throughout the day.

He also put me on diflucan before starting treatment since I told him that I had gotten yeast with my previous lyme doctor.

He never did a blood test on me for yeast. He just looked at the tongue. I believe if you present evidence of yeast to a lyme doc, they will treat you for it before they start any lyme treatment. The ones I am familiar with have done that with some people I have referred to them.

It only makes sense for them to get rid of the yeast before starting the lyme treatment. Otherwise, the yeast symptoms interfere with knowing how the lyme treatment is going.

My doctor recommended the book "The Body Ecology Diet." It was written for those with systemic yeast. There is an extensive website if you look up that title.

It's been 5 years since I completed my lyme treatment and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life.

Wish you the best as you begin your journey. Persevere and have patience.

You can usually tell by your symptoms if you have yeast or not. I've NEVER been tested for yeast. I just treat when I get symptoms and try to follow a clean diet so the problem doesn't occur.

I'm currently excited about the results I'm getting with Body Biotics. It's been great so far... even reduced sugar cravings bigtime.
