you may as well just take cold processed virgin coconut oil. That's where Lauricidin comes from. I use the one by Nutiva. It definitly kills something, because I herx after taking it.

Psano, how much of the coconut oil do you take a day, and do you use it in cooking? I'm wondering if heating it changes the antibiotic properties of it.

I took Lauricidn after talking w/the inventor of it. He swears by its antiviral, antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antiprotozoal properties. He even said an LLMd recommends it to his patients.
It did indeed seem to produce a herx at a moderate dose.
However, I did learn that virgin coconut oil is nearly the same and now use it and cook w/it. I do not think that heat changes the properties of it since it is a very sturdy oil.
I suggest googling "coconut oil benefits" you will find a wealth of info.
Even though I still use it for cooking, I think a better "supplement" that does all the same things and more are Olive Leaf Extract.

I bought organic extra virgin coconut oil. I stopped taking it because I thought I was allergic to it or something. I read the health benefits and expected to feel well I guess. It was the opposite.
I thought maybe I was allergic to it or something. Could it be the antimicrobial properties?

Yes it is very good for a lot of things. I eat
it-tsp.-and use it on my skin. I had a massive
crotch itch that scratching would not touch. It
took it away in less than 5 mins. I call that good
stuff. I am not sure if one is better than the
other, but I like the pure virgin cold pressed cc
oil to use for other things too.

Melody, the first time I tried it I herxed really hard on just a small amount, maybe a teaspoonful. So I would say to start low and see how you tolerate it. I'm not really consistent about taking it right now, but the most I've heard of people taking is 1 TBSp 3x/day. Maybe someone else has more experience w/it. I usually put it on toast instead of butter. It's quite good, esp w/ a little honey (which also has antimicrobial qualities)
I've tried frying with it, but it didn't work well for me. Eggs just stuck to the pan. I also apply it topically. It really took care of my severely chapped lips last fall very quickly, and I also herx from topical use of it.

its hard for me to tell if things are working (even abx) because i dont herx or at least i cant tell if its a herx. i just feel crappy at completely random times.
that being said ive been on both olive leaf and lauricidin for months (+boatloads of other crap) and havent noticed improvements.
btw i go to the LLMD that recommends it to his patients.

There is also a LLMD in MD recommending this treatment also - 2 weeks of olive leaf and then 2 weeks of laurcidin. Just started it at low levels so not seen any change.
Had already taken about 6 months of abx and improved considerably on them.

In VCO...IMO, not as good as caprylic acid.
Caprylic acid is the "working" component in the new "medicinal food" for AD called Axona.
I'm not surprised. Look very very closely at the molecular formula.
Google virgin coconut oil and look at ALL the acids in it.
Research the saturated (loaded with hydrogen)medium chain fatty acids individually.
Yes, they may work together, but one sure as heck stands out.
Caprylic.
"Capryl" by Solaray.
Give it time and go slow.
P.S. It appears we NORMALLY take in about 400mg of caprylic acid from foods and beverages per day.

Dr. C in Missouri and Dr. M in Illinois recommend Lauricidin. It's a broad spectrum antimicrobial. However, it doesn't work on cold viruses. It's a supplement, not a first line of attack. Work up slowly. Herxes can be difficult.
