I ran across a tiny one line mention of VSL#3 in a magazine in a Dr.s office (gee imagine that, a lymie in a Dr's office - I think I should get my own personal chair in the waiting room :-)
Anyway,I forgot about it (again, imagine that!)and just ran across it in another completely unrelated article; in of all places, Reader's Digest. Another one line mention.
I think my stomach is finally on the verge of rebellion (16,000 mg Vitamin C/day for over a year + the the othe 50 pills a day are starting to take their toll) and I'm looking for something to help.
Has anyone used it and had good results? The ads say it creates a sort of protective gel in your intestines. It is mega-expensive from what I've seen...

It's rock solid and works. Use it. To save money I've suggested that members buy the capsule form, and instead of using two capsules per day, use only one. And the bottle will last you two months. The bottle costs about 50 dollars. 25 per month for a solid probiotic is reasonable if it's really needed.
Insurance may cover it if your doctor prescribes it for a particular digestive problem. Find out more from your doctor.
The probiotic has had two double blind placebo controlled trials and showed significant improvements in patients with Ulcerative Colitis and other problems.

I've used it - it's v pricey...but v good. And yes it should be refrigerated.

Yes, it is wonderful and a strong probiotic. I used it the only time that I had real trouble with my gut, during my first year on high-dose oral antibiotics. VSL#3 and Florastor quickly healed my gut and eliminated the problem.

YES! VSL#3 is the BEST probiotic for me. My GI doctor sells it out of his office, but you can also buy it from their website.
I couldn't find any place to go buy it when I was about to run out and I didn't want to drive all the way to the medical center (to my doc's office) to buy it.
I called my doctor's office and they told me to check with Walgreen's (or whatever pharmacy you use) and ask them to order it. I did, and Walgreen's had it within less than 48 hours!
Same price as at the doctor's office, or very close. I need to check their website and do some price comparison there as well.
I would HIGHLY recommend VSL#3 ----- I won't take any other probiotic now. I only take 2 capsules a day. It's helped get my gut back much healthier condition. I'm not on any abx right now either.
DO IT! You won't be sorry!

Absolutely...the best.
I suggest backing it up with www.Quantibiotica.com a fermented probiotic that actually makes me herx....quite harshly.
ALthough at $95 per 45 days....it is also expensive.

Guys, there's a wonderful secret! If your dr writes an rx for VSL #3 DS (double strength), your insurance may cover it---check firs
t with your insurance company. It's the powder in packets. It's very powerful and good. And if your dr writes for 2 packets per day, that's a lot! You could make it last 2 months that way.

I used VSL#3 and it worked very well for me as well. I took it twice a day though.
Luckily my local Costco carries it. But I had to call many pharmacies before I found it. It's very pricey but it works. Good LUCK!!!

Whoever started this thread THANK YOU! This product is only $10 more than what we are buying now, and if what everyone says is true, which I'm sure it is, it would make more sense for us to be using this.
My husband also has a lot of stomach issues, so I am going to be putting him on it too.
I am paying $40 a month for a probiotic with 80 billion. This would seem to be a much more economical deal.

I've taken Theralac and VSL#3. Both are great probiotics. VSL#3 has something like 220 billion/capsule.
I take VSL#3 at bedtime, and some other probiotic midday, just to switch it up.
I was bioresonance tested for VSL#3, and it showed too strong for me, even with all the abx. So, I don't take more than needed.
