Hello,
Background:
A friend referred me to this site. I am hoping for some advice since this is all very new to me. I have just been diagnosed w/ Lyme's and Bartonella. In September I suffered a second trimester miscarriage at 17 weeks. Around the time of my m/c I was dealing with more fatigue than I had in the first trimester and after my m/c I requested blood work. I had the standard Lyme's testing and it came back negative. I had made an appt w/a holistic dr.'s office and by the time I had my appt (end of Nov) my symptoms had improved. My energy level could be better but I was not as fatigued. My biggest symptom is this hyperpigmentation of my skin -dark spots on the under side of my arms, chest thighs. A dermatologist did 2 skin biopsies that showed inflammation.

I had some weird headaches, but those have pretty much gone away and one day I had blurred vision on/off all morning -was kind of scary but nothing consistent. I just skimmed through some posts and saw something about foot pain. I do have some pain in the ball of my foot that started last May. I saw a podiatrist about that and he explained it as being due to a high arch. Wonder if there are symptoms I just haven't connected.

I did follow up testing through Igenex on Nov 30. 2010 and have my info to post. I was hoping to get some feedback. Here is the info:

Test Results 11/10
Igenex IGM Result Positive
CDC/NYS Result Positive
18kDa. ++
22kDa. -
**23-25kDa +
28 kDa -
30kDa -
**31kDa. -
**34 kDa. -
**39kDa. IND
**41 kDa. ++
45 kDa. -
58 kDa. -
66 kDa. -
73 kDa -
**83-93 IND

IGENEX IGG-Result Negative
CDC/NYS-Result

All the bands were negative except for **41 kDa.+
but it says that presence of only one starred band in a negative report may indicate clin significance and should be retested in 4-6 weeks

B. henselae IgM <1.20 Titer
B. henselae IgG 1.80 titer

Treatment plan:
Doxycycline, Rifampin, hyroxychloroquine
and the following supplements:
probiotics, NT factor, andrographins, COq10

Questions:
What do you think of my numbers? Is it clear to you that these diagnoses are accurate? The NP diagnosed me immediately w/ the Bartonella last week but wanted to talk to the lab before giving a definite on the Lyme's.

Has anyone heard of or experienced a miscarriage due to either of these diagnoses? I have been trying to make sense of my m/c and wonder if this could be the cause. I know I will never know for sure. I first noticed the dark spots on my legs right around the time of the m/c.

Looking at my test results anyone have any thoughts/advice and does my treatment plan seem reasonable?

They are taking a more aggressive approach w/ me due to the fact that I am considering another baby but at age 39 I am concerned about time, but also worried about whether I can handle the antibiotics. Please know I would not even consider pregnancy unless I can work through these health concerns. My first priority is to address both the Lyme's and Bartonella. I really don't have any awful symptoms- no joint pain maybe some of the emotional stuff and the skin issue. Sorry for such a long post. I look forward to any comments! So scared to start this medication and wonder what it will do to my system, I have never been on 3 antibiotics at a time and haven't been on any antibiotics in years. I was unsure of my diagnosis and would so appreciate your input. Ok...thank you in advance for your time.

Three quick points:

-It's "Lyme Disease", not Lyme's.

-Your test results show very clearly that you have Lyme. It seems like it's fairly recent too, so your outlook should be positive.

-Read Dr. Burrascano's Lyme disease guidelines a few times over: http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf .

It sure looks like Lyme, though the completely negative IgG portion seems weird. Good luck.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I have checked out the links and they are all filled w/ very useful info. Thank you. Renny1985 I did come across info on Addison's when searching my symptoms several weeks ago. I will mention that to my dr. Started the Rifampin a few days ago (so far so good) but adding the other antibiotics in tomorrow. Hopefully all goes smoothly. Thank you!
