Hubby is probably going to have his replaced next month since he has met his insurance out-of-pocket amount for the year.
This is his longest PICC line ever -- has been in for 24 months on 11/1/09.
Most of his lines have lasted 12 months or so -- way back before he knew about hypercoagulation his first couple of lines only lasted a few weeks. He has had a line in continuously for 7 years now. Was hoping the current one would be his last, but he is still stuck doing IV Phenergan and some supportive things for now.

Bea,
How did you find out that he had hypercoagulation? And what did you do for that? I'm curious, because I just had to have my PICC line out after 5 months, as it sprung a leak.
But I had a LOT of on-going pain with it all along. Not sure if it was from spasms in the vein or vein irritation or what. How would hypercoagulation manifest? Thank you.

I take 1 mg Coumadin every day to prevent blood clots.

I'm on my second line. The first got a leak after 5 months. I've had this one for 10 months now.
