Marnie recommended that you take the time to research berberine on your own before starting it. It can interact with other supplements and many medications. She did not recommend taking it with anything else. She thought that it would be a good stand alone Lyme treatment.

I take Swanson's berberine on & off as per dowsing. I didn't notice anything definite but sometimes it comes up to take it. I haven't taken it lately but I do have it around.
I think it's good for gettig rid of candida. It has a number of other benefits, too.
Marnie's great but sometimes her posts are confusing to me. I don't know precisely which things it interacted with. If someone could post the interactions - it would be helpful.

very hard to understand science posting.
I thought after all the conversation someone who could understand all the info, tried it and I wondered if it helped and how it helped, also what to avoid

- Nonna,
Your LLMD is the best person to guide you with this. I'm sure he knows all about Berberine and if it might be right for your body and with the Rx protocol you are on (as well as adjunct Rx to be sure they would go okay or not). -

BERBERINE: Therapeutic Potential of an Alkaloid Found in Several Medicinal Plants
Timothy C. Birdsall, N.D. and Gregory S. Kelly, N.D. 1997
10 page pdf
--------------------------------------
Note: Some products that are refined may be either Berberine HCI - or Berberine SULFATE.
Marnie speaks to the difference somewhere in her posts.
Rx INTERACTION / contraindication is also discussed somewhere by Marnie. Still your LLMD is the best source of guidance for you.
She is very clear about this: Do NOT add this to your "protocol" without first discussing it with your doctor! -

Nothing close to stand-alone, no. I take a lot of things. It has helped a lot with candida/yeast issues.
