nonna, simply put, if you have chronic lyme (have had it for 1 year in spite of treatment) you will not get well without a medication that kills lyme in the cyst form.
You have chronic lyme. So, you must kill lyme in all its forms, including the cyst form, simultaneously.
By definition, this category consists of patients with active infection, of a more prolonged duration, who are more likely have higher spirochete loads, weaker defense mechanisms, possibly more virulent or resistant strains, and probably are significantly co-infected....
This group will most likely need parenteral therapy, especially high dose, pulsed therapy, and antibiotic combinations, including metronidazole." (page 20)
As Burrascano says here, you will most likely need something stronger than oral medications--either IV or the IM (intra-muscular injections).
And, notice that he says you will need to take the antibiotics in combination including flagyl (metronidazole).
