Yesterday after just one dose of Rifampin, I started to get a sore throat. I still have it today and it's kind of bothersome since it feels like swollen tonsils and it hurts to swallow. Should I take something for it? If so, what?

I don't think it's an allergic response. I've had that before (swollen throat, hives, etc.) and I'm not having any rash or itching. Is this a common occurrence with rifampin?

I also feel very strange like in and out of complete awareness. It comes in waves.

I have been on Rifampin for 4 months now. It can be tough at first but then things got better for me around the 2 week mark.

I didn't have the sore throat but did have some of the strange feeling. That went away.

Daughter seems to have these symptoms too. Bart seems to be the worse for her.

Good luck, hope you feel better. Maybe try sea salt and warm water to gargle.

My throat has gotten worse today. I took benadryl (50mg) to see if it would help. Am I right to assume that if I don't improve with benadryl it is likely not an allergic response?

The sore throat is oddly one of the major symptoms that came at onset of my re-infection along with a 105 fever. I don't have fever now luckily.

Is it potentially a herx? Sore throats were one of my symptoms before treatment so I wouldn't have been surprised for it to reemerge with treatment...
