Assuming IC stands for Interstitial Cystitis:

BERBERINE helped miraculously where all other herbs failed me.

It was a surprise bonus, one I had not even considered as I was taking it for other reasons. It's just that after a while, a terrible bladder for years started to behave and the pain was so much less, even gone, I'd say. After so many years I had stopped counting.

I did not try d-mannose, though. Some say that's very good.

Thanks so much to Marnie for all her posts a couple months ago about BERBERINE. I got it and had no idea that it would just make IC disappear for me after YEARS.

It also has a been a wonderful seizure control for me and reduces startle injuries, too.

What I used: GlycoX - started with one 250 mg. a day, gradually increased to 500 mg 3 x day.

But, you'd need to study it first for interactions with any current Rx you are on.

I have to stop now but will try to come back with some links.

Free 14 day sample

Still, read all about it and consult your doctor as to if this is correct for you.

Marnie's posts about this detail the contraindications and Rx interactions.

One concern I had before starting was if it would drop me like a hot potato.

Although this can help lower blood sugar, I notice absolutely no sudden hypoglycemic crashes. I cannot say that would be others' experiences but I've had that happen years ago with chromium (it also wired me before it dropped me).

I do not have a glucose meter (though that would be interesting to track). I just am sure to take it before a meal so it can work with food. The food seems to keep me balanced. (Of course, I just don't "do" sugar so I would not be bouncing around, anyway.)

I've noticed zero "wiring" or "dropping" with this. It neither zooms me to the moon or puts me to sleep. I like that about it. Seems very balanced.

I wonder, though, if it may contribute a bit to constipation. But I ran out of magnesium for a month or so. More due to arrive tomorrow so I can assess whether adding back in magnesium will better regulate colon movement.

When I was in terrible pain from IC, NOTHING helped. I used to take Vistaril at night .. it helps.

I had probably 20 DMSO treatments, heparin treatments, two surgeries... nothing helped. It ended my teaching career.

I don't know exactly WHAT did it, but going thru Lyme and babesia treatment "cured" the IC. I'm way better. Every once in awhile I have a flare, but I haven't had a real flare in about 4-5 yrs now.

I have been taking D-Mannose twice a day for about the same length of time. Perhaps that is key. For SURE, the D-Mannose keeps the bladder infections away. I've only had ONE in the past 3 yrs. I used to have them about every 6-8 wks!

Keebler.. I'm so happy that the berberine is working for you!

Great info here.

Some other things that have helped me in the past when the i.c. was flaring:

tri-salts (you can put in capsules if you don't like to drink down powders).

slippery elm, marshmallow root, mild vegetable broths (no onions in it).

a strong north pole magnet over the bladder area has helped me many times.

homeopathic remedies such as cantharis 30 c or 30x, hylands bladder irritation formula, swansons has an inexpensive bladder irritation formula as well.

No tomatoes, vinegar, spicy foods, etc. everyone finds their own triggers.

I do realize that you asked for drugs. My experience is that meds flare the bladder more than help.

Hope this helps ~

D-Mannose, over the counter analgesics such as Cystex or Azo for urinary tract pain and burning.

If foods or liquids irritate it don't have them. Keep track of this. Drink a lot of water.

Ultimately for me treating Lyme and confections resolved the whole thing.

Oh, Vitamin C is very healing to the bladder also, take several thousand mg/day.

What has your llmd said about it? Do they acknowledge its from lyme and co.?

This is just a thought but since I became ill with lyme and company, all of a sudden I have multiple allergies.

They are so bad the allergist/immunologist won't do allergy shots due to risk of anaphylaxis/death.

There are other ways less dangerous to get desensitized. When researching, I came across this.
It lists IC in addition to many other issues.
Hope you get relief soon.

Yes I see one of the top llmd and I was moving right along with treatment and than after my 4 week flare in August I developed IC. He says usually he sees patients come in and develop it but not after 1.5 years of treatment. So we switched some meds up and well see. I'm just so scared I went from functioning about 70 percent to almost couch bound.

I eliminated all acidic foods from diet. And that doesn't seem to help. I have been like this for 7 weeks [Frown] [Frown]
