My main symptom the past 7-8 months since my symptoms first started in February has been almost constant head pressure that radiated from my nose all the way to the top of my head, along with headaches. My head hurts so bad sometimes my head hurts. My llmd has me on Mepron, Zithromax, and Doxy to attack the Babesia, which I came back full blown positive for. She thinks this is what is causing it. Has anyone had this awful symptom? And how long did it take to get it under control? What antibiotics? Am I on the right path? I am going to start the artemenisin Nov. 1...

Btw.. I have been on Mepron for 1 week now, and have felt awful everyday. Weird new symptoms even. Hopefully this is herxing :/

Cranial-sacral work by a pysical therapist or even a good massage person that knows this body work.

Or tons of detox like chlorella or charcoal might also be beneficial for a long period of time. It might just be toxic headaches or could be inflammation. In that case anti-inflammatory meds OTC or supps could be beneficial.

Sometimes, Excedrin works. It actuall worked better for me than a prescription migraine medicine. It's off the market for some reason but you can get a generic brand. I also take NAC to offset any liver damage.

Detox is important, too - like map1131 mentioned. I think the headaches are from hormonal issues (for women), changes in air pressure or some kind of detox or toxic reaction. Could be a number of things but these are some common sources that I have found.

It may be helpful to do some kind of liver support...?

I'm able to tell the difference between a toxic headache and an inflammation headache in myself. But I don't know how to tell you how to distinguish the difference. It sucks but experience teaches us to listen to our bodies cries for help.

Detox should be part of your everyday protocol.

Thanks for the replies. The pressure and head pain come and go so rapidly.. one minute ill be fine, the next it can be dull, then a few minutes later it can be horrible, then all of the sudden it goes away. I have tried every anti-inflammatory there is. Xanax surprisingly is the only thing that helps relieve it, besides excercise, which is also something I've tried to keep up doing to help cleanse myself. I also take detox baths with epsom salt, baking soda, and hydogen peroxide. I guess I am just constantly herxing or the Babesia has its home base in my head. I do notice that when I take my medicine and herbs my symptoms increase.

Hi Tony-- before I knew I had Lyme I had constant head aches every time the weather changed. I still get them but much less frequently. What worked for me most of the time was sudafed and tylenol.

right before I was diagnosed I got a script for migraine meds which I use if the sudafed doesn't work.

you have to get the real psuedoephedrine behind the counter. not the stuff on the shelves.

I also think Babesia causes this. Mine were awful for at least a year non-stop. I noticed that the muscles in my back, shoulders, and neck were very tense. I think they were causing tension headaches. They would wrap around my head up to my eyes. Massage really helped this.

Tony, My husband says cranial therapy helps relieve the head pressure and / or pain.

He also sees a cranial chiropractor who works with the head specifically. He had an adjustment today. This evening he said his head feels clear again.

When I was hospitalized with Lyme they gave me Fioricet. First they tried percoset.......then morphine....and finally Fioricet.

Unfortunately it has barbituate in it so not good for long term use unless you like looking like a drunk in public. But it worked in a matter of minutes, I couldn't tolerate and light or sound.

For me there was no magic bullet. Die off used to give me severe headaches.

Antibiotics and Tylenol...old school. No supplements helped at all.

IV Rocephin took most of my head and neck pressure away, but then I slid back. Then Doxy and Biaxin took ALL of it away and then I gradually also slid back.

Nowhere near as bad as what I started, when it was so bad that I could not walk.

It was so weird in the beginning too. One day I had frontal head pain, next day top of head pain, third day the back of head and neck pain, fourth day back to the front. So damn weird it and migratory at times.

The only way I can describe the sum total of my experiences is pure hell if there ever was a hell. I've had this for years and before I got sick and if I knew, I would have probably said it was no big deal.

There are many who got bit and think that it is no big deal. They won't feel the full impact until it has spread and gone chronic.

I have been headache free for two weeks now ever since starting cipro..for Bart.

I can't believe it.

I have had 3 sinus surgeries in the past 10 years and have had constant headaches for at least 20 years, pounding every morning.

Never even thought I had Bart, especially given the sinus issues. I really wonder what the relationship is between the two, but it has been two weeks of no pounding headaches.

I also think cranial sacral work is good. I go at least once a week, but it doesn't get rid of my headaches unless I am on the righ med. meds and cranial sacral definitely work in tandem, I think because the PT helps me detox.

Good luck

Pme did you ever feel burning in your head or neck? As if someone pored clorox on it?

I think that burning is more from Borrelia, but I could be wrong?

I have experienced the burning sensation you have talked about. It has happened a few times. I feel like something in changing very slowly in my head. There is pressure but a different type of pressure.. just a very dull feeling. I still get the pressure in my sinuses which will radiate all the way up to the top of my head, sometimes to my neck. I am able to get the Mepron for free for a whole year so I am going to stay on it as long as my liver will allow me. I've also been waking up with sore feet (new symptom), so I am wondering if I have Bart, and that could be the cause of some of my headaches as well? All I know is that for the past week I have had 3 horrible horrible headaches since starting the Mepron at night, but then right after the head pressure goes 80% away... I am hoping this is a die off (plus I feel like crap and fatigued when it happens).

This head stuff is so interesting to me. When all my symptoms first started, they told me I had sinusitis. When the pressure got so bad I got scared and demanded sinus surgery and he gave me the balloon sinuplasty and fixed my "deviated septum". Then I saw a neurologist because that didnt help and said I have tension headaches and prescribed me an anti-seizure medication!! Ugh.. finally on the right road.

Lyme...I have had a burning sensation at the crown of my head. I wouldn't say it was a primary syptom but I did notice it recently. I have no idea where any of this comes from, but I am floored by the fact that it is a crummy rainy day and I do not have a headache.

I used to live on advil on the really bad headache days.

I know a lot of people here have sinus issues. I have hadd severe sinus issues but never really had awful allergies (sneezing, watery eyes type of allergies).

I hope someday we all get answers to these crazy questions.

I have strange burning and mild pressure in my head that migrates too. Sometimes I feel it in my sinuses and even in my jaw/face. But mostly it is my head and ear. I lost hearing in one ear and I am sure it is all related.

These symptoms started up when I began taking mepron. I don't know if it is babesia herxing or bartonella taking over - or lyme.

I have severe headaches about once every month for a couple of days in a row. Not sure what that is about.

It's good to compare notes.

The way Doxy worked with me, was that it created pressure when there were pressure issues. Head pressure was elevated beyond what felt like normal pressure.

It eliminated head pressures at one point & never appeared to cause any further head pressures.

I have the nausea when I don't take it with food, so I know it's acting upon me, but does not cause additional head pressure.

So I think it can cause pressure in those that are not able to adequately control pressures to begin with.

They have these things called a Still Point Inducer. They were invented by the guy who developed cranio-sacral therapy. It might be useful...?
