Usually I'm the one dishing out advice, but this time I need to hear of experiences from those who have used this abx and what results/problems/etc., were.

My dear son tested positive for Mycoplasma pneum. (IgM) a couple of weeks ago and in 2012, so his LLMD has prescribed Ketek and stopped a couple of his other meds. I know about weekly blood tests to check the liver, and that this abx can affect his vision and make him drowsy/dizzy.

He has gotten more fatigued since having to stop IVIG last July, still has the chronic pain (hurts more to be touched), irregular sleep patterns and memory problems. Myco certainly is a key player in causing many of these things, as I have read!

Lymenet is a great source of info and help and I hope this time you can help me! Thanks.

Ketek was a wonder drug for me. I did it in combination with Mepron, and also in combination with bicillin (at different times). It was what really turned the corner for me when I was doing abx. I hope it works that well for your son!

My liver numbers stayed fine while on it, and aside from herxing, I had no untoward effects from the drug at all.

Thanks, minimonkey, I appreciate your input.

We are having a very tough time finding this medicine. We were able to get a partial prescription fill, but were told the manufacturer no longer makes this drug. It is very expensive, rarely used and has no generic equivalent.

If you don't mind would you pm me and let me know where you were able to get it? I have called large and small pharmacies and no one has it.

Hi hoping and praying

I don't know about ketek, but I do know treating myco made all the difference in the world to me.

It, along with IV lyme meds, really helped me to feel like I was gaining some ground.

Before seams of clothes would "trick" my brain into perceiving overall pain. Pillows were always "digging into my neck".

As soon as I would get in the house I would get into a one piece pajama top. Clothes shoes, hairbands, hats-everything hurt.

Treating myco this went away, and also fatigue inproved slightly. (then babs reared it's head).

He will feel so much better when he starts treating.

Pming you with online pharm.

Thanks GretaM for your input. May you get rid of your Babs very quickly!

I sure hope this is the final piece of the puzzle which needs to be addressed as we have done so many things over the years.

Can't wait to hug him again! It's been such a long time!!

If you don't mind my asking, what IV meds were you given? What specifically did you use to treat myco?
