Maybe this isn't the place for this since it's for finding a doctor--but the board doesn't seem appropriate either.

I have been tested and am being treated by a LLMD who is not nearby.

I'm thinking that my HMO won't pay for the antibiotic long-term but they are now. I'm hoping that when my MD sees the test results at my annual physical next week, he might take over with her treatment eventually so that I could get coverage.

I'm not too hopeful, since he's ignore me these last 4 years.

I thought someone checking this board to help people find Drs might have had experience with this?

Hi
You have a HMO?? Is there call the number on the back of your card and speak to the member services about what is covered and who is convered you may have to change doc. You may be able to access your insurance online I know i can with anthem.

But as long as your doc will give out the referral for the other doc there is no reason why unless it is not written on the plan that they would not cover.. agian each policy is written different and the only way to know is to contact them yourself.

hope this helps
Hail

My HMO is pretty lousy about out of network specialists....if there is one within 50 miles they won't cover in out of network.

But my PCP has prescribed a ton of abx that don't require pre-approval and all have been covered. He has really worked with me and helped with some of the things I do with the out of network lyme doctors.

Sounds like you need to think about a new PCP that is able to help you some under the guidance of your out of network (pocket) LLMD. I ran into some specialist ducks that wouldn't listen and simply never went back...they must expect it with patients that take charge of their own health care like we are forced to.

I was just persistant about treatment despite seronegativity and he was pretty open minded. I think I've been lucky in that regard. He's learned alot too in the process! We kind of reflected on how far I've progressed earlier today and I told him that I wasn't going to let this kill me! He wished the science would catch up.

thank god we have LymeNet (each other)!
