I notice that some of the private messages I send go unread.
I think we need to post how to read private messages.

Therefore:

If someone answers your post about needing a doctor and says they are sending you a Private Message or a PM:

go to the menu under "Post New Topic" at the upper middle of this page

and click on "my profile"

That will take you to your own Private Messages,
showing ones you have sent and ones you have received

and, in both cases,

whether they have been read by the person getting the Private Message.

You can send a private reply there, too!

A great system!

Hope this is helpful.

To all, the person can read the private message in email as soon as you send it. But, it will still show as "unread" in the LymeNet system.

Until the person comes onto LymeNet and also reads it in their profile, it will continue to show "unread" when the sender looks at it in his/her profile.

So, don't think that your messages have gone unread.

True. I think they are reading them. Most never reply to say thank you.

That's just the way it is. I know many people post on numerous sites and don't even find their way back here.

As for actually being on the site, I don't see how they would or could miss the flashing icon for the private message.

Since you can read the forum without signing in, the flashing icon for a message will not show up. Have to sign in to see the flash.
