I am in online high school, and I go to my uncles house 3 days a week to meet with my tutor who helps me focus, because my neuro stuff from Lyme...I can't without her.

I just don't have the energy, but I HAVE to graduate!

My question is...how does everyone force themselves to push through something you know you *have* to do, but don't have the energy to do it.

Half the time, I go and fall asleep in the chair. It is no fun!

[confused]

Well, I am a lot older than you, but have been able to only get 5 naps in

During treatment for the last 20 months! [Eek!]

I have two small children who don't allow me to sleep.

Are you taking B-12?

That helps me some, but also a cup of coffee at the noon time is a must.

I swear I could sleep standing up.

Watch your diet. If I eat carbs it really makes me tired.

Sometimes a good walk helps me too.

A cool shower?

Pace yourself. Allow yourself a nap if you need it.

I've needed one every day for the last 2 years, just unable to get one in.

Congrats on graduating. Stay focused (if you can).

Get this under your belt and then allow yourself the luxury of taking care of yourself physically.

Hugs,

Geneal

Actually, when I'm that tired, I don't push through it, I sleep. I figure it's my body's way of telling me it needs rest.

I do push myself to exercise, and I usually feel a little better after some exercise. So, maybe a nice walk before your tutoring would help a bit.

I'm taking B12 shots, yes. And I have very little carbs in my diet.

I really wish I could take this year off, but I'm almost a year behind already. Not to mention I lost a year of school due to moving out of the country at one point. I don't want to be 20 years old graduating High School. [shake]

Ugh, so frustrating. Lyme sucks. [Wink]

Have you had your cortisol levels checked?

I needed Cortisol supplements due tohaving to fight so much infection. It made all the difference for me to be able to stay awake and focus.

I became a lyme research fanatic on Cortef, after not being able to absorb much info.

Pushing through usually doesn't work for me. I recently tried to push through while doing paper work and ended up throwing away my check debit card and AAA Towing Membership Card...I think...can't find them anywhere.

Just recall being in a fog and trying to pay AAA on line with check debit card. Last I saw both cards.

So, when I try to push through I make more work for myself or put myself in harms way.

I thought of ...darn..can't think of the drug right now.

But, have a teacher friend who has a great deal of trouble staying awake and takes it.

Provigil. That's it.

I have tried taking it in the past and it helped, but recently has not helped.

And I find if I stay down a day or two or three before I need to something that helps at times too...not always...but most of the time.

Also need to veg with the brain during this time too and can't be on line.

Are you able to give yourself down veg time a day or two before the tutoring?

I do recall before being dx I tried going to church and just couldn't stay awake so have stopped attending church for the most part.

While in college, I would read while i was walking...strange i know. But, it helped me for some reason.

Good luck. I know it would be nice to get high school out of the way. Hopefully your tutor is able to adjust the lessons to how your brain is working that moment.

Perhaps not having to travel will help you...that in itself can be exhausting. Could the tutor come to you??

Just noticed the tutor was on line so guessing you go to Uncles to use computer.

AT first, I did not know when I was going to be able to be more alert with this.

But, have gotten in a routine lately and am able to do a little in the am and again in the pm.

Perhaps finding your times when you are more consistant might help too.

Still doesn't always work that way for me and it may be until after 3 or 4 pm before I can function but do have a little more control of my life now.

What about one on one with help that comes to your house?

Just brain...gosh forgot what the word is.

You'll get it figured out. Hang in there.
