Just went looking for Permanone. My son is going on a school retreat later this week and we are going to spray his clothes and sleeping bag.
They did not have the Permanone brand anywhere I went. They did, however, have Coleman brand that contained .50% permathrin. Is that the same thing the Permanone brand contains?
There's no Permanone to be found anywhere around here. I think the hunters have bought it all.
Thanks for any advice.

I get Repel at WalMart. It is permethrin. Don't know if it is out now, but was in the spring/summer.

Do you have time to order it from Amazon?
I just ordered some, and with Amazon prime (which I have free for 3 mos) it will be here in 2 days, with no shipping charges.
They had several brands.

Kitty and Cactus,
I tried Walmart and they didn't have it. Last time I went there they had it, don't know why.
Unfortunately, I don't have time to order from Amazon as they leave early Thurs. and it needs a day or so to dry well on the clothes.
I will try Academy Sports tomorrow. We have two of them here. One was completely out - the hunters again, I think. I will hope the other one has it.
Otherwise, I think the .50 permitrin is the same ingredient. I had just always heard Permanone brand was the best.
Maybe I should just send him to camp in a Sherman tank. Maybe he would be safe then and I won't be an nervous wreck.
Still praying for rain.

I remember trying to find Repel in the store this time last year and could not find it.
Now, I try to remember to buy a lot early.
I know that doesn't help you now, but maybe for the future.
I hear ya' about the tank! I send my husband and son with Deet for their skin. Do they use it? NO! argh

I think I bought the "lice spray" at walgreens. 0.5% permethrin. I spray it on our clothes and shoes and allow to dry for 24 hours. I believe that is the recommended dilution.

Finally found the last three cans of Permanone in town at the other Academy Sports. Just plastered all his clothes tonight.
Thanks for all the tips.
I think the men in my life are in denial too. Don't they remember all we have been through to get to this point?
It's not such a big deal to take precautions. If that makes me neurotic, ocd whatever, so be it.

link123 I don't understand our families AT ALL.
They think that I am neurotic because I hate the thoughts of being outside in the woods!
We just went on a camping trip, and I was nervous the whole time. But I have to go or they will be mad at me.
I told them that we are NOT going camping AT ALL again until my daughter is completely better. I don't want her getting bitten again.
We all had bites this summer, and I think my daughter may have gotten a coinfection this summer.
If it were up to me, we would all be on three weeks of an antibiotic every time we take a camping trip. But nobody will take it unless they actually pull a tick off.
I guess it's because we moms read alot about lyme to try and help our family members who are sick.
I wish my husband would read a few books. Maybe then he wouldn't think I'm crazy at all.

Permethrin is for clothes/gear only- not effective in skin. It kills ticks on contact as they walk across the treated material.
