TGIM! Yeaaaaah, beginning of a new week. I'm ready for more of God's thoughts!

Yesterday, the church service was so good. Started with blessings to the mothers (of course, it was Mother's Day. FYI, my day was great), then worship (which is always great), and the message, plus two people were baptized.

The pastor started a new series but laid some foundation for what he'll be sharing from Revelation, "The Red Letters". Meaning the seven letters to the churches in the first three chapters.

Bottom line, pastor said...IT IS ALL ABOUT JESUS. The entire Bible is about Jesus. The book of Revelationi is about Jesus.

He shared examples/stories from the Old Testament of how the Bible is about Jesus from beginning to end. Blew me away. So simple and yet so profound. [bonk]

Just one example, the story about David and Goliath.

Most of the time it is taught that we are (like) David facing the Goliaths in our life.

Pastor shared it from a different perspective that really made sense to me. We are not (like) David. We are (like) the scared Israelites. Jesus is "David". Jesus wins the battles for us. Jesus fights our Goliaths for us. Jesus is victorious in our lives.

Great way to start my week...knowing that Jesus is on my side and He always wins!

Thank you for sharing the movie trailer from "Road to Emmaus" on last week's God Thought thread.

I cried just watching that couple minutes. Would love to see the movie.

Yesterday in church, the priest asked us if we knew when we had our "Emmaus"?...or maybe we had not had it yet.

He meant that time or moment when we really "got it" and recognized Jesus in our life.

For me, I'd say, that even though I've been a Christian all my life, I think my Emmaus was in the last 17 months which has been the hardest time in my life emotionally.

That's when I really recognized that God was in control and I must look to Him for all my strength because it wasn't going to come from anywhere else.

Your church service sounds like it was wonderful.

I have not read about the 7 letters yet, but I might need to skip ahead and do that. Very interesting thoughts your pastor has about David and Goliath.

On last weeks thread you said about the Footprints poem and your Dad gave you a special necklace, bracelet and watch with that on it....wow, so special to cherish something like that!!

You said you love the beach and have alot of nautical decor...I also love the beach!!...not just love, but love, love, love!! lol

I have alot of large seashells around my home, plus alot of tropical decor with palm trees that reminds me of a tropical beach even when it's cold and snowy here.

Daisy, I do not think I will ever tire of "Our God is Greater" song, Oh, and knowing that He is greater. It's All About Jesus. Yep,I agree. "The Red Letters"....I'm not even going there yet, enjoy and I will ask wayyyy down the way to break it down for me.

Dekrator, I learned the same as you and lymetoo in church. Funny. Thanks Dekrator what you say about my words.

I have been reading a book today called "Captured by Grace". very interesting book.
Talks about John Newton and the hymn "Amazing Grace" As you know I have not cared for this song because they sang at my grandmothers funeral when I was small. But yet since I have been on God thought this song continues to pop up. Anyway..

These lines to the song were the original following the present third verse....

The lord has promised to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,

The hymns original title was "Faith's Review and Expectation"

I thought the story of this slave owner was pretty interesting, I have more to read. I still need to get through the first chapter. Sure glad the words are in larger print for me. Ha! Oh, and the author speaks of King David and the amazing grace given to him also, All this in just the beginning of a chapter.

St. Augustine said " God always pours His grace into empty hands."

Whenever I hear a song by DC Talk or the Newsboys it always makes me smile. They were my favorite childhood bands and the funny thing is I still enjoy their songs. (Like "Jesus Freak" that one will never get old for me)

MDW, I enjoyed your PAIN thought. So good.

It's amazing how God uses what's happening in our individual lives to reach us as a group. Like Dekrator pointed out, God can use the hardest times in life to touch us, teach us, and draw us closer.

rhody, I saw your post on the last God thought thread. I think we can relate to how you are feeling. Some days are harder than others. Somedays I think that my life (treatment) costs too much, that I am not worth the effort. At the same time I know that God wouldn't leave me here on earth if my life didn't have some purpose left to it.

I have to set my mind to try my best and look to God to take care of the rest. My life may not be what I dreamed it to be but I think that I will be happy if I can live my life in a way that is pleasing/honoring/glorifying to the Lord. So hang in there friend, keep fighting and lets see what God will do with our lives. (Don't you wish you could fast forward and peak?)

To end on a positive note, my mom got to come home from the hospital yesterday, yay! She's doing pretty well so I'm happy and relieved.

Hugs, you all are in my thoughts and prayers (and also Putnam's dad, I didn't forget!).

Hello all....
It's a beautiful sunny day here.
Thank you, Sammy, for your thoughts. I am doing a lot of sitting around because of the neurological debilitation. Every day I tell my self to keep going and know that this takes a heroic effort to go step by step, one moment at a time.
I know that God is in control, and there is a reason and purpose for everything

I am so glad that your mom is home from the hospital. I am sure that you are very very relieved to have her home. Praise God for that!

I am grateful to all of you for your prayers. I feel I am at the beginning of a scary and very uncertain and confusing. Thank goodness I am living with supportive friends.

Anyways, may the Lord bless you all today with whatever it is you need to have a joyful and peaceful day. As I said, I am very grateful to all of you for your prayers....

Each day, walking with Jesus, I want Him to reveal more of Himself to me...and also, transform me to be more like Him.

Dekrator, About the beach, no I am sure that I love, love, love, love, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, etc...it more than you! [lol]

I've actually heard that swimming in the ocean is very healing to the body because of the salt content. I would love to swim in the ocean daily!

MDW, Your "PAIN" poem is inspiring. Woohoo you got the bold going! "JESUS, my Hope and Love" AMEN!

Liked your "devotional" on John Newton "Amazing Grace". Powerful verses he wrote to the song. And THAT was an interesting first title.

So proud of you. You've grown in leaps and bounds...over one year now maybe. I am blessed.

sammy, So glad your mom is home. That has to be such a relief. I've not yet listened to "Red Letters" song. I like all kinds of music. A couple years ago even went to a "Third Day" concert with my oldest son and his wife. It was awesome.

Sorry about those neuro stuff going on.

I've said before, but it's been a while, I believe any person who keeps moving forward with Lyme, as you say "one step in front of the other" is a LYME SURVIVOR. rhody, you ARE a Lyme Survivor.

I have a verse for you, "The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe."

In His presence, He replaces fear, scary, uncertain, and confusion with peace. You are so right, "God IS in control."

Just said a prayer for you.

Just thinking about the faithfulness of our God tonight.

I think this is my all time favorite rendition of "Great is Thy Faithfulness" 2nd Chapter of Acts (probably from the 1970s). The way this brother/2 sister group harmonize is beautiful.

May you be encouraged. I think on the other side...we'll see just how faithful our Lord has been! [bow]

I successfully burned my first Christian music CD from music I bought online at iTunes. [woohoo] ok...I know I might be a little behind the times... [dizzy]

This eve we have to be in 2 places at once. Kaden, age 4 has a soccer game, and Deven, age 7 has a baseball game. [dizzy]

Daisy, I remember a short bit back in time you had posted this song "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and it today is just as beautiful as the first time I listened. I like your bold "Lord God, our hope IS in your unfailing love!" part of verse 11, oh, I fear Him in a healthy way. I hope you have had a refreshing day.

Dekrator sounds like you will have an active eve..do enjoy your grandsons friend. Today you might need shade to keep from the heat?

DKat, Thank you for your prayers. God is answering!

I had not heard the song "Power of Your Love" with Axis. Beautiful. I really liked this part,

"It's the power of Your love that has saved me,

AMEN! It IS!!!!

MDW, That whole write by Anne Graham Lots, thank you for typing (that was a sacrifice of your time and fingers). I was blessed by reading it. WOW! It is so awesome to realize that our loving Lord is always with us and one day we WILL meet Him face to face.

Anne is the daughter of Billy Graham. He is 92 years old. I read he was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia. The doctors are optimistic. Please pray for Billy Graham and his family.

Fuel, So thankful for the healing touch in your body, dare I say mind and spirit, too. You shared a very heart felt post...your closing comment, "You are my power, my strength and my world.

Before I hit the hay thought I'd stop in one more time.

Marine, Appreciate your prayers for all of us. the more the better! That song...yes, He IS our hiding place! The song has a relaxing beat. The pictures of all of those flowers was amazing. So many and yet all so different. Each so unique and colorful.

Reminded me of God's masterpiece of creation...that would be us...people. God made each of us unique, different, special.

...had the first medical appt with my doc since the LLMD diagnosed me. Boy, was that a flop! He wanted nothing to do with even looking at this. Of course, he was wanting blood tests, which I know would not be helpful.
I am in Ontario Canada.....please, all you my new friends, pray that I am led to the right MD who would be willing to work with the LLMD in the States to help me on the path to healing....God bless you all! Rhody

Good afternoon friends!

Had a good time at grandson's games last eve. I was able to find some shade, MDW. Hope you are having a beautiful day also...maybe a little cooler today?

Kaden had soccer practice and then played his first soccer game (5 weeks late due to lots of rain). He scored 4 goals and was beaming from ear to ear.

He gets lots of practice at home and at our house trying to compete in sports with his older brother.

Deven's baseball team won their game (first win this season), so he was very excited about that and the coach invited the team to go for ice cream afterwards.

It's another sunny day here in PA. [woohoo]

Love to listen to the birds chirping, and I hear a woodpecker pecking away at a tree.

Cloning myself would be nice sometimes. I always feel bad if we have to split our time between the boys games.

That verse has kept my mind from going into a "dark hole" during some very difficult times in my life. I love God and I love His Word!

Hello daisyrib, dekrator, marine and all....just sittin' here pretty debilitated and keeping on the meds.
Brain is all like mush and it's no picnic.

I have decided to take humaworm and take a stab at the parasite angle while on meds...hope it doesn't kill me!

Some people on here have said it marked a turning point for them, and they felt the antibiotics were not very effective until they started blasting parasites.

I am praying for you all. May Jesus bless your day and fill you with healing, light, peace and the fullness of His love.

Rhody, I do not have any elegant words today, but we all understand how you feel, we have been there or we are there. You say "may He fill you with light and peace and the fullness of His love" Guess what? He does that for you also. Daisy posted a beautiful scripture this morning.
Read it Rhody. Read it with the eyes of your heart.

We have so many beautiful scriptuers and writes on God thought, when you can't find God or feel Him, read some of past posts here on God thought and I am quite sure you will begin to feel Him around you. I am praying for you Rhody.

Thank you for sharing from 1 Corinthians and Phillipians.

They are beautiful and comforting verses.

They are some of my favorites and I go back to them often during hard times.

It's so good to have God's promise that He will be with us through anything.

It would be easy for me to slip way into a deep hole sometimes without His word.

Hope, trust, perseverence.

You will get better and I totally believe it!

I can relate to being debilitated...so many of us can....like MDW says, we have been there or are there.

God has set your feet on the healing path.

The path can be very long, windy and have lots of ups and downs, but it comes out at a better place than where you started.

So set your eyes on the destination and you will get there.

God will help you and so will we.

Daisy, you bring big smiles to my face. I remember the first time I heard "Power of your Love," many a month ago last year. It made feel emotional, the beginnings of my journey here on God thought and my baby steps with Jesus. This song remains emotional when I listen. Power of His love...how wonderfully special we are to Him, for Him to give us His loving that only Fathers love can pour out.

Hi MDW...good memory you have. Here is the gospel reading from today:


John 6: 52 - 59


52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"

53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you;

Those listening to Jesus took what he said literally when they said, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"

To eat Jesus' flesh has the spiritual meaning of trusting or believing in Him, especially in His death for the sins of mankind.

Drink His blood means to trust in His atoning death, which is represented by the shedding of His blood.

Good morning dear friend Dekrator.
Those are beautiful prayers. One day I might have beautiful prayer words...until then might en I borrow yours?

This morn I feel great. The family let me sleep in till 9am! can you believe that. I feel like most of me is back. Wow, I slept good. Well I need to go put a face on so I don't scare the squirrels, my day is getting away from me.

Dekrator, Thank you for the lesson you shared with us today.

The last couple days we been chatting about shoes and it reminded me of a story and a lesson...would like to share. It might take me a short bit to write but hope you like.....

Luke 6:38 says...Giving, is not your chance to bless someone else, but God's chance to bless you.

It was a cold winter's day that Sunday. The parking lot to the church was filling up quickly. I noticed as I got out of the car that fellow church members were whispering among themselves as they walked to the church.

As I got closer I saw a man leaned up against the wall outside the church. He was almost laying down as if he was asleep.

He had on a long trench coat that was almost in shreds and a hat topped his head, pulled down so you could not see his face.
He wore shoes that looked thirty years old, too small for his feet with holes all over them as well as his toes sticking out of one shoe. I assumed this man was homeless, and asleep, so I walked on through the doors of the church.

We all gathered for fellowship for a few minutes, and someone mentioned the man laying outside. People snickered and gossiped but no one bothered to ask him to come in, including me.

A few moments later church began. We all waited for the preacher to take his place and give the Word, when the doors to the church opened. In came the homeless man walking down the aisle and up onto the pulpit and took off his coat and hat.

My heart sank. There stood our preacher...he was the homeless man. No one said a word. The preacher took his Bible and layed it on the stand and said, "Folks, I don't think I have to tell you what I am preaching today."

Watched the movie "The Climb" last night on TV. I thought I had seen it before but didn't recall any of the scenes in it.

Thought of the Climb we as people with lyme disease go through.

Good Afternoon Friends,

I was so VERY blessed by all of your posts...scriptures, songs, prayers. Thank you for praying for me. God answered.

The Lord was good to the ladies...and so good to me too. It was a different experience for me. Most of the time I am not too nervous when I'm going to share, but not this time. I felt more nervous than usual.

I had my notes but felt like something was missing. I really struggled with how to start and had three different openings. Ha!

As it turned out, right before I was to share, four gifts were raffled. 1) Notebook Journal with pen, 2) Scented candle, 3) Garbage can (with "faith" "trust" "hope" on the sides, 4) 2 jars of jam and a small blanket.

I knew now how I was to begin (and it fit the theme of my sharing too...well, of course it did!). My main scripture was "Love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength...love others as you love yourself" (Luke 10:27).

This is just, in a nutshell, how I started.

1) Notebook Journal...God has a plan for our lives...even before we are born God has a plan for our life.

Psalm 139:16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

2) Scented Candle...His plan includes being a sweet fragrance to Him by loving Him with all of our heart...and living in a way that is a sweet fragrance to others...love others as we love ourselves. Also I added that as a candle as a specific "life span" so do we. Live our lives...not "waste" or lives.

3) Garbage Can. Really interesting because you could almost hear from the ladies attending, "Ugh, what a gift" but seriously, the woman who got that gift had just told her husband last week that she really needed a garbage can. So God went before and worked that out for her.

Anyway, I shared that the way we can be a sweet fragrance to the Lord and to others is by getting rid of the garbage...taking it to the Lord...

4) Jelly and small blanket. The word of God says to "Taste and see that the Lord is good" (Psalm 34:8). We experience that in our time reading His word, praying, and listening for Him to speak to us. Whatever we need, He knows and he ministers to us, comforts us (like a blanket on a cold day)...

Well, you get the idea...

Again I appreciate your prayers.

God is good all the time and all the time my God, OUR GOD, is good!

I am just in awe of the way you can take scripture and relate it to any life situation or object...garbage can, candle, etc.

It takes creativity to do that and I think it takes a deep understanding of God's word, which you obviously have.

I hope that I can have even half of that understanding as I read, study and learn more about the Bible.

I really appreciate you taking the time to share with us what your message was about.

I have never been able to get up comfortably in front of a group without getting so nervous that I thought I'd pass out and my heart pounded so hard and I could hardly talk because I was breathing fast.

I always wished I could overcome that but never have. It kept me from applying for some positions in the past.

I admire anyone who can do that. I wish I could have been in your audience.

I had a good weekend, thanks for asking daisy.

Went to some yard sales yesterday with my friend Judy (I didn't find anything to buy), went to a soccer and baseball game and relaxed a little.

Today we went to church and breakfast with our grandsons, then I did a little shopping..well, I should say looking since I did not buy anything, then out to lunch with our grandsons, then back to our house to play....I'm tired.

How about everyone else??

Sounds like you had a wonderful active weekend Dekrator.

me...well, let me think, hmmm... Saturday I read the bible, studied, took care of client dogs, went down to Miss B's and mowed and tidied her yard. Then came home and ironed clothes on the deck and listened to music.
Sunday, I was unable to attend church..did too much Sat. and hurt a wee bit. Watched a on-line church service this morn. took a client dog home, played with my dog and had to fetch a ball out of the pond, read the bible, played with the boys. Played in my flowers and got poison ivy on my arm, I knew that wasn't a plant I grew. whew! It was a good weekend.

daisy, I enjoyed your song choice, I will enjoy checking out a bit of back ground on them. Pretty song it is. here is one more, and boy this song is a tough one to gnaw on.... For it's only in you will that I am free...what a line in the song all for Jesus, to give it all up, wow. not fond of the video, but not really a better one...actually its the words that have meaning not the show. One day when you have time Robin has a great song called "Revival" Peppy song it is.

I am asking you for prayers dear friends. I come on here often to read the thread, but I am now asking for fervent prayer.

My daughter has been so well lately and today, she tells me she is not feeling well. I am struck to my core as I think the worst right now.

Let it not be so! I need to be lifted up so I can praise Him now. I need some prayer to strengthen myself and to straighten out my mind not to be so scared and worried. I need to think on the good things and not the bad and to bring His promises to my mind immediately.

So, if you could petition Him for strength and wisdom for myself. If you could ask Him for me to be glorifying Him NO MATTER WHAT and that I could have the peace that passes all understanding to calm me, I would so appreciate it.

Thank you MDWOO5. I am fragile, and I just hate it. Too much has happened and I haven't pulled myself up out of the muck completely yet.

I so want to be strong and secure in the knowledge that no matter what comes my way that I remember firstly that He is in control, yet I crumble so easily.

I wish I wasn't such a blithering mess.

I understand how hard it can be not to worry.

I pray that the Lord will comfort you and give you the strength, wisdom and trust that you need to rely on Him.

I pray that your daughter will have continued healing.

God bless all of you this day. Yesterday at Church prayed for you all. You are precious children in the Lord's eyes.

I reflected on Psalm 23....the Lord is our Shepherd and will never abandon us. He walks with us through the darkest moments, his rod and staff in hand.

You say you pop in to visit and well, I had you and yours on my mind this morn. Did you get your face out of the muck puddle? Might your face be cleaned by Jesus this morn? Pray so.

You know what momindeep, You are not acting... whats the word? hold on...."blithering." What you are feeling is real. Fear can take over at times and this is when we cry out for Jesus and He will hold you and make you feel safe. So feeling foolish or as you say "blithering is not in God's vocabulary I don't think when it comes to being scared for your daughter, and He understands the crumbling because we are human. Dear friend, give it to Him and this way fear will not consume you. Good day to you friend and I say another prayer for God to hold you up by your suspenders or ears [kiss] cause He might en have you wipe your own bum if you sit in the muck [Big Grin] ...just joking with you

Dekrator, I read your scriputers you posted and was a great reminder for me/us to hand our emotions of anxiety and fears to our Jesus. So glad His shoulders are huge for all our burdens. I like peace surrounding me but, I need to allow myself more of handing over to Father instead of me wearing the pants.

Rhody, Psalm 23 is a good one..He does not abandon us....beautiful isn't He.

Hi Sue/momindeep,

The others on God Thought have answered so thoughtfully with words of encouragement, prayers, and even some chuckles.

I think when it comes to issues regarding our children...they are the hardest on us...especially if our children are hurting.

When fear tries to pull me in I notice it is so important where I allow my mind to wonder. A verse that always helps me is...these are words recorded by Paul,

"And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me--everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you" (Philippians 4:8-9).

You are in my prayers and SO IS YOUR DAUGHTER. Our God IS Healer! There is nothing impossible for Him! His plans for your daughter are good and I'm praying the good work He started in her body on this healing path that He will complete...in the almighty Name of Jesus!

I guess the thing that digusts me most is myself. I liken it to walking over ice and when I hit a thin patch, instead of walking with the Lord AROUND the thin patch, I fall right in and then the Lord has to pull me out all shivering, soaked to the bone and cold.

So much of my fears can be nonexsistant if I could just walk with Him...dang.

Yup, I am all cleaned up now...He got me back on track remembering all He has promised me and He did take time to remind me of His promises because of MD and Daisy.

I must learn to react differently. It has been so many years of rampant fear that I beat down time and again with the Word...I feel conditioned to react in such a poor way. I need help with that I reckon.

So, I go to my next job in few, and I will continue to praise the Lord and not think of the patches of thin ice before me.

Thank-you for your loving kindnesses...I did actually sleep last night which is an amazing thing for me when my heart hurts.
