This thread is about to become active again. I will ask the moderators to anchor it at the top of the page.
We expect the new bill numbers to be published soon and we will be asking you to make sure the legislators who signed on before, sign on again, and to contact new legislators. We will supply a letter, or the last letter should suffice since the bills will be identical to the previous ones.
Some people have received letters from legislators saying, "Thank you for your letter, we will consider your bill favorably when it comes up for a vote," are NOT acceptable. We want our legislators to SIGN ON AS COSPONSORS. This requires them actually to DO something BEFORE it comes up for a vote.
More later.

phyllis, please be prepared and demonstrate on HOW WE CAN accomplish what we all want .... them to CO-SPONSOR a bill.
right now, i can't remember the name of the woman member here who worked in congress in a sen/reps house who coould give us more good hints on DOS AND DON'Ts to accomplish what we WISH TO ACCOMPLISH! just my opinion.

phyllis, you mentioned somewhere that this wasn't in general any more, but here's what i just discovered:
it's the LAST STICKY FEATURE ....
so it's the 1st one folks will see when they start to read te NON-FEATURE items! really it's good placement!
people tend to forget at top, but it's right IN YOUR FACE right it was placed! i think it will work quite well. give it a chance to see for yourself. my 4 cents worth phyllis!

Just a thought - since elections last November, many people may have new Congressman and Senators. I know I do, and so I will have to write again also. It would be very helpful to have bill numbers to refer too. Thanks! I haven't been on lymenet for awhile but am still around - will post in general or off topic with update.

also, since we have many new FEDERAL/STATE senators/reps, we should work again on updatng TINCUP'S 50 STATES CONTACT LIST here in activism.
when you have done the work in WORD or whatever software you like, save it on hard drive, and make a BACKUP ON A FLOPPY for all the work that went into this.
go to tincups post, and delete your PREVIOUS POST. click on icon,
go to top and click on DELETE POST, hit enter, and it's gone so we don't have to go thru 2 lists looking for 2007 LIST.
be sure to show your state and add 2007 LIST UPDATED! THEN PASTE NEW INFO THERE!
i use yahoo acct. so i can only send 20 BCCs at one or i have to wait ONE HOUR to send each group since it will not send to ALL AT ONCE!
one of our newest members did her state, and i'm sorry i can't remember your name. she could send to 75 PEOPLE THRU OUTLOOK EXPRESS IN ONE GROUP
so i suggest to folks to divide up your lists and no. 1 - whatever so folks can use your list to email their FEDERAL/STATE SENATORS/REPS!
use my YAHOO suggestion or her OUTLOOK EXPRESS idea! . thanks so much!
remember after every person's email, you must show a comma and ONE SPACE after EACH one! or when you send, it will NOT SEND CORRECTLY. catch the errors, now.
you can list them 1 email per line, helps on proofreading that the , go in right place! good luck!

Hi all, My congressman's office has called me about a letter sent, who knows when, and wanted to discuss stuff. They were very clear about letting me know I was heard.
They are interested in receiving more information. I've got a contact person's name to direct them to. Does anyone have a template for a letter and/or additional info I can send them.
I'm not so great at composing them on my own and would be willing to make further contact if I had an idea what and how to say the appropriate things.
I received a followup letter to that phone call a couple of days ago. They are paying attention.
This Congress person has cosponsered bills in the past.
Thanks for any guidance you may be able to provide.
