Hello,

I have been on Biaxin/Plaquenil for 48 hours now. I did not get the best nights sleep last night, but I am extremely fatigued today....

Yes, I went to work, did some shopping, but it is still with me......

Does Biaxin/Plaquenil make you herx a lot?

Maybe I am just tired from lask of sleep!

Thanks,

I have fatigue almost every time I herx. Usually within 48-72 hours of starting.

I also think the plaquenil might cause some fatigue. I've been on it so long now, I don't remember. [dizzy]

I started plaquenil with Biaxin, but remained on it because it reduced swelling and stiffness in my hands.

Rob,

I tried to PM you earlier but your box was full.

I herxed like C R A Z Y

on biaxin alone. First herx...truly, utterly out of my body and mind, for sure burning spine definitely thought I was going to die.

How long have you had lyme?
How long have you been treated?

I dont' remember your details but am curious about those two questions.

Thanks Guys,

I feel up and down a bit...When I feel good, I do too much in any given day and then I am useless the next day!

Still to this day, bad taste from biaxin is gone.....Herx is still here though...

I am O-D-ing on sugar! [Frown]

Dont know if I have yeast, who knows?

Biaxin has made me herx non-stop. I've been ramping up to the full dose, and each time I increase it, I herx all over again.

It also gives me incredibly vivid nightmares and caused me to have a panic attack, which I have read is a common effect of the drug.

Good luck! It's tough to deal with, but effective.

Hi,

Thanks...I am just fatigued now. Some days I have pains and burning, metal taste is long gone, no nightmares, panic attacks, sleeping only 6 hours most nights....

Rob you mentioned that you were O-D ing on sugar. Please do yourself a favor and go buy sugar free cookies if you are craving sugar. Sugar only makes you feel worse in the long run.

I remember when I use to crave it BIG TIME!

I wonder if some of the issues that people think are from the Biaxin or from a herx are actually side-effects of Plaquenil. The first time I tried the combo I took the full dose of each and had what I thought at the time was a major herx. As it turns out, after experimenting with both drugs on there own I found out my strong reaction was actually just side effects from the plaquenil (major sleeping issues, lots of anxiety, pressure in my head). I ended up having to start the Biaxin alone and ramp up on the plaquenil of which I still don't take the full dose. Just something to think about when taking these meds that it's not always a herx...

Hi,

Yes, I have had some sleeping issues...I do manage to get 6 hours a night, maybe more...

I do have this weird feeling in my head, not all the time, just for a few mins, then gone...

No more bad taste in mouth...

I just take what the Dr. gives me, what else can I do!

It is weird how different abx make you her in different ways sometimes....

Major hell for 4 weeks after beginning the combo (insomnia, severe pain in articulations, seizures, migraines, cotton-ball head).

I thoughth I was back to square one, after 16 months of treatment.

After 4 weeks, things fell back into place, except that insomnia is still potent.

Rob,
See my long post in your P&B Co-infection thread. You asked about experiences there too and I hadn't seen this thread yet.
hats
