I have chronic Lyme and have HAD no problems sleeping, thanks to Benadryl.

That statement is no longer true.

In the last week, I have added several of Dr. Buhner's herbs/ supp.s to my Protocol (andrographis, L-carnitine, cat's claw, DHEA).

Also, my LLMD added Cortef. I am taking a lot less than he recommended (taking 5mg.s in AM and 2.5 mg.s at noon).

I am tolerating them well except for the sleep deprivation. I am wired at night when I go to bed and wired in the AM when I get up.

I suspect DHEA and Cortef as the culprits. But I can't find any good threads on this.

Without doing an elimnation test, what have people's responses been to these substances?

Much appreciated.

Did your doc test you for dhea and cortisol before he put you on them? A 24 hour testing would be good since these have times of the day where they are normal higher or lower.

My dhea was fairly normal, but my cortisol was skimming the bottom and dropping below normal by afternoon. Would never have known that with a quick one time stress test.
