It's very hot and humid these days and I can barely function. It's hard to walk or do anything.
Is it common for Lymies to have a hard time in these conditions? I thought only MS sufferers couldn't stand heat...

Alot of Lyme patients suffer in the heat as well.
There was just a topic on this a few days ago with quite a few responses.
I myself am bothered by the heat. Even if I am just out for a short amount of time.
It causes me to have headaches, spaced out feelings, and fatigue.

Last year the heat completely did me in, if I went out in it, I was done in for the day .... could do nothing after that.
A year later, the heat doesn't have that same effect, but I have to go inside when I'm herxing. I don't have to go inside and go to bed, like last year, but I can't stay outside during a herx.

I remember reading a while back that heat affects MS suffers because the human nervous symptom is simply less efficient in conditions hotter than it is used to. When it's already stressed and working below 100% from MS, the lower nerve performance in the heat is very noticeable.
If that's the case, there's no real reason heat wouldn't effect neuro lyme patients the same way, since the actual cause of the nervous system deterioration wouldn't likely matter.

My excerbation of symtoms during heat and
humidity were one of the reasons we originally
thought i had MS (in 1991).
I still cannot tolerate heat, but humidity is
what really makes everything horrible.
Numbness, tingling, loss of balance, cognitive
issues get worse. Vision loss, pain, swelling
.......i am a mess.
We are having a heat wave here in NJ, and my
central air broke yesterday. Let's hope they
can come today to fix it. The first available
appt. was Fri. Told the receptionist that I
have a medical condition, she will try to get
them here sooner.

Very interesting.....it has been about 100 degrees the last few days and I was a mess, tired all afternoon, and seemed very sensitive to light....okay in the morning though.
