For sleep, sometimes it works for me, sometimes it doesn't. Adding some Valerian root helps.

I'm taking it since more than one year. It has improved my sleep but it's not perfect yet.
But if I stop it my sleeplessness is back.

I'm actually not taking it for sleep, but I'm glad it's helped the two of you with that!
I'm taking it for a "serotonin deficiency". I guess my body is "showing signs of a lack of serotonin". For example, I have no peristaltic action in my intestines (they don't move), I have shortness of breath, neck tightness (in the front), profound fatigue, lethargy...and apparently these are all signs of a "serotonin deficiency"?
Has 5-HTP helped anyone with this sort of thing?

I never heard that these could be symptoms of serotonin deficiency. I just googled it again and there was no mention of these symptoms.
I tried 5HTP at one point last year. I didn't notice any difference.
I hate to be a negative-Nancy but lately I feel like none of the suppliments make a difference, except in my wallet

i took it with melatonin and it really helped my insomnia
i just had my amalgams removed and now no more insomnia so don't need it
