I know I need to address bart again.

I can't take Levaquin. Bad reaction tendon pain when I started taking it. To scared to ever take it again even with the Magnesium. Not willing to risk it.

I did rifampin and zith for 6 months but that was it.

I dabbaled with A-Bart which I would be willing to try again.

Anyone have any experiences with rifabutin (mycobutin) ??

I heard its suppose to be less harsh on the liver.

Does it have all the same drug interactions as rifampin??

Thanks! [Smile]

I started my treatment with rifabutin and minocycline. I had an easier time handling these ABX than what I am taking now - rifampin and doxy.

My new LLNP changed these meds when she learned I tested positive for anaplasmosis and RMSF.

I am going to be talking to my LLND today about what the differences are between the two. If I have any more information, I will let you know.

Thanks I see my LLMD on the 18th so I will be inquiring as well. Did you feel like the rifabutin helped?

And was it covered my ins?

Do a search.

It is a good drug if you are part of the 2/3rds. I unfortunatley was part of the 1/3 of people who had plummeting WBC's while on Rifabutin.

I did do a search not to much about experiences on it BCB. A lot of people tend to use levaquin and rifampin.

Do you feel it was benefical before you had to go off it?

Do you know if it has the same drug interactions as rifampin?

It didn't really touch my Bart/BLO
Rifampin did for sure though!

Thank the lord for Houttuynia

Rifabutin (Mycobutin) has less issues intreating with other drugs vs Rifampin.

There is still "some" interaction..just not as much.

THe biggest issue isn't liver issues as Rifabutin is easier on the liver.

It is the 1/3 of the people who try it who get ultra-low WBC's. I tried it twice, a year apart. BOth times, my WMC plummeted to a 1.6 within 2 weeks.

I recovered after stopping the meds.
