I went in to CVS to get a script and told him that the beta blockers I got last time made me pretty sick. He asked if I was a Celiac and said half these pills back here have gluten fillers and most have starch.

Is this true?

Yes. Probably far more than half.

Also of major concern: dyes; additives.

You can find particular sites & links to help sort this out here. See the "Hidden Sources of Gluten" posts:

I believe it!!! I am now in the process of calling manufacturers about the fillers. I reacted to Xanax last week and I feel it was either gluten or a preservative.

I didn't have a pen handy when they read me the list, but it contained yellow food dye, sodium benzoate, corn starch (GMO), and about 4 other things. Supposedly no gluten, but who knows!?

I can't believe we can't just call our pharmacists to find out ingredients.

Hawthorn is a wonderful herb that has many excellent properties to help the heart, including action similar to that of a beta blocker.

Get Stephen Sinatra's books and check out his website. Link in the set below.

Even if a drug does not contain an ingredient that has gluten, unless manufacturered in a certified gluten free space, on equipment that NEVER ever is shared with anything containing gluten, it is not safe for someone with celiac.

Same issue as with restaurants or a deli (and their prep space) where they share equipment - and air space - with anything containing gluten.
