I have read thousands of posts on here and I am worried sick still. One thing that I see a lot people saying they have is myopclonus.

I have this as well but have any of you experience just clonus durning a neuro exam.

It is ver indIcative of a serious motor neuron disease or complication and I have it in both ankles.

I would appreciate any replies on the matter to calm my mind,.

There's lot that can be rough & tumble with lyme, however, it's very likely that what you describe has at least some logical explanations and fairly easy helpers as you work through treatment.

. I've dealt with all kinds of muscle spasms, along a wide spectrum and, with where ever my "events" fall on that spectrum over time, magnesium has been the number one helper to calm / manage myoclonic spasms.

For those with lyme or other Tick Borne infections, treating the infections also helps but be sure you have a proper LLMD.

A basic definition: Clonus is a series of involuntary, rhythmic, muscular contractions and relaxations.

Whether just called "clonus" or "myoclonus" (which may have other aspects but still, basically the same when you have the movements - involuntary muscle jerks are first, a sign of magnesium deficiency.

And, yes, can be a symptom of lyme, or other tick borne infections or other toxic overload in the body. If you have a good ILADS educated "minded" LLMD, be sure to let them know about this.

Still, the first thing to help is magnesium.

Diet is also top of the list as it's best to avoid all gluten, even a trace. And avoid caffeine, anything that is at all energizing or stimulating in nature. Even what you breathe in, it's best to avoid scented personal care products and even air fresheners, etc. These can be toxic to the nervous system and are endocrine disruptors, too.

I hope things here will help as you sort it all out with your LLMD. Good luck.

Re: Food Additives

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=029690;p=0

Excitotoxins; MSG; Aspartame; & "Natural" Flavors (that are not likely natural at all).

GMO foods that destroy the GI Tract; Gluten; Dairy (individual responses may vary).

Check all your supplements and beverages / foods - and assess diet (and anything that comes into our bodies for:

See post: Caution: Aspartate; Glutamine; and Phenylalanine (3 excitatory amino acids that can be wrong for us when added as supplements, beyond a normal dietary level)

Seaweed has its own natural MSG and can be very excitatory

It may be important to have a very LOW LECTIN DIET.

I csnnot explain why as I just don't have the energy now, though basically, lectins, a plant toxin, can travel from the gut & vagus nerve up to the brain and has been shown to influence Parkinson's Disease movement / neurological issues.

I believe this may also relate to any kind of neurological matter, in some way. I have found that a very low lectin diet, and also a very low oxalate diet has helped some of my issues with myoclonus be relieved.

Are LECTINS Bad for You? (+ How to Avoid Them) • Dr Paul Mason . . .51-minute conversational interview

As for OXALATES, I also see a very strong relationship to immune function, neurological matters for my own symptoms and others may as well. Though it's likely best to think of one category at a time and lectins seem most important for muscle spasms.

As you look to lectins and then, soon, oxalates, keep in mind that oxalates can damage any tissue in the body.

It's best to avoid spinach & almonds, as they are worst offenders.

I know this is a lot to take in at once, but just treat it as a reference page, maybe copy to your health file on your desktop to work through.

And, yeah, it's a lot to consider. Yet, it's all so very relevant and important to nerve health.

I hope this information offers you hope and practical information about how to proceed and what you can do to guide your own ship, to some degree, along with your LLMD who is addressing the infections.

Take care.
