I recently had an extremely traumatic experience as a consequence of what we believe to be Lyme with a Bartonella coinfection.

As such, I have spent all day scouring this site for all the information I can get...and nobody seems to have any kind of success story. [Frown]

My relationship and life depend entirely on beating my neurophsychological symptoms as fast as I possibly can, but everybody's posts seem to be about treating for years with little to no help! I am terrified that I will never have the life I was so close to having...does ANYbody have a success story to help me through this?

There are sooo many success stories here, that's what keeps me going.

They will be chiming in soon. These folks could be out living their lives and forget all about Lymenet, but they come back to give us struggling folks some hope.

There are many successes, but unfortunately no quick fixes. Your treatment length can greatly depend on how long you've had the infection.

I've been treating for 4-5 years but then I've had symptoms for over 30 years.

I'm better now than I can ever remember.

Don't give up. Lyme is both a curse and a blessing. I have come to realize that my lyme diagnosis was a gift. Without it, I'd be half dead by now and I'm sure my kids would be in pretty bad shape.

I am healthier now and more in tune with myself than ever before. I didn't do everything perfectly but I did enough.

My daughter got well...it took a long time, but you have to remember Lyme treatments have improved a lot in the last decade and co-infections and what-not are more understood...my daughter was a guinnea pig, so to speak...not to think it was all in vain, it wasn't.

I was mind-numbing concerned if she would even survive, let alone get her life back and she did just that...got her life back.

It is possible...but you have to keep your eye on the golden ring and do what you need to do to achieve that.

I'm well... took me 4 yrs to get there after 42 yrs of having lyme.

Is it hopeless to beat advanced Lyme symptoms in 6 months, probably.

Honestly its probably going to be 3-5 years before you feel better, thats usually average. But most people DO get better with an EXPERT LLMD. But it is going to be hard, take a lot of time, money and determination.

I suppose what I'm really wondering is how long it has taken people to start actually feeling effects, not when whatever infection is completely clear. My life has fallen apart and I have little time to prove I am getting better.

I am better. I was sick and bedridden for almost 6 years. I did lose the life I had and I am still rebuilding it now, but there is health at the end of tunnel. Keep on fighting. One little success at a time leads to big wins.

I and my kids are also well. You can do it; everyone is different, so some take longer than others.

Thats kinda the one thing you cannot ask--"how long", because everyone is really different. If it were 1 year that would be good, if it were 3 years it might be average, if it were 5 years that might be long-- but others have been treating for 5+ years and that doesn't mean they won't get better.

Also remember when talking to people, most people talk about how long they've been sick....NOT how long they've been treating for Lyme with an LLMD...very different things.

What I have found, is that if you put a time limit on when you are going to get better...well ya know the old saying..."A watched pot never boils"...

I did treatment for years...(have had it for more then 30 - did 12+ years conventionally)

But, about 4 years ago, I started on my own path...my own protocol that I designed for myself...lots of trial and error...but I found my path...

Now I am entering my 3rd year of remission...

So it is possible...
