I have been on a-bab for a few weeks. I was extremely skeptical about even trying this. I said no way no how is this going to do a darn thing.

But my LLMD suggested that I try it, so I did.

There is a challenge phase and you basically see if you herx on it.

Well at 4 drops 2x a day I was herxing like crazy. I thought maybe I had a stomach bug. But called llmd who said I was having a classic herx and to cut back.

I am looking to see if anyone knows about this babs treatment

thanks
m

Hi merrygirl
I'm supposed to be taking a-bab right now, but I haven't started it yet. My babesia symptoms are pretty well suppressed, but not gone completely. What is the challenge approach?

I'm supposed to take 25 drops 2x/day! (It takes a lot to get me to herx!)

I have heard of other people herxing on that too. Does the label list the ingredients? I'd be interested to hear what's in it.

I have had more intense herxes in response to herbals than drugs. Shocking. I wouldn't believe it unless I experienced it. Once I started figuring out that herbals were giving me herxes, I have been trying more and more blends, and I'm tapering off the antibiotic drugs.

And these are herxes that are very intense, pretty unmistakable. So far I haven't seen much improvement after the herxes with my remaining symptoms....but I only have a few stubborn symptoms left, so we'll see.

The only thing though is that you mention you thought you had a stomach bug....I don't usually think of vomiting or diarrhea as a herx (which is what I think when I hear stomach bug)....so just be sure it's not some kind of side effect!

Good luck.

I just found the ingredient list online. Not familiar with some of those herbs, but based on the descriptions, looks like it could be really powerful, killing any number of things!

A-bab has Cat's Claw in it. I just started Cat's Claw about a week ago, and am herxing like crazy. I have a sore throat so bad, it feels like I am getting strep throat. Though I know I'm not, because it's not getting worse like strep would (and I'm on abx).

Wow I tried to increase to 3 drops 2x a day and I had a horrible episode with chest pressure and heart flutters. I cant believe this stuff is so powerful. I went back down to 2 drops.

my llmd said the nausea and diarrhea were part of a "classic A-bab herx"

I am taking A-Bab; on the challenge the first time got up to 13 drops twice daily and then had such a bad herx I stopped altogethr. A week later I tried it again and got to 10 drops before the herx, and backed off a drop a dose for 5 days and I'm still having symptoms. Air hunger, heart palps, wheezy - stuff I haven't felt for more than a year. I'd sure feel better knowing these symptoms are a herx and not some awful side effect of the herbs (or worse).

With Enula, I was getting a racing heart, and I could literally "see" my pulse on my neck, by looking in the mirror. And it felt like my heart was beating hard/strong.

With artemisinin....one time I started it after not having taken it in awhile, and I got heart attack-like symptoms (squeezing pressure, sore shoulder). I'm sure it wasn't an actual heart attack.

Then, I also started getting air hunger for the first time, on Enula, shortly after the chest stuff.

So I think the heart stuff can possibly be a babs herx....or a kill-off of *something* (who knows what, since these herbs kill lots of things).

Ugh, I hope it's a herx. Calling the cardiologist just to be sure. I've been sick for more than a decade, known what was wrong for a little over a year, and these symptoms are the first that leave me wondering if I'm going to live through this. Stronger air hunger than ever before. Worse wheezy feeling. Heart's pounding at the least little effort.... Nothing else I've taken has made me wonder if I was having a herx (mepron, artemisinin, azithromycin); I've just skated along about the same as usual, until now. I feel so bad I'm not moving around much, but then I wonder if not moving around much is making me feel worse. sigh

My doc told me to start the A bab this week.

Now I'm afraid to start it.

I'm already in a lot of pain, and I don't want to add more symptoms right now.

I am also supposed to start Bactrim

WHy do we need both?

When I added bactrim it was to address th bartonella and (maybe) Lyme while still treating babesia. It's also supposed to treat babesia.

The good thing about A-bab is that you're not supposed to suffer. I started with a drop twice a day and worked up from there. Not sure why I'm having so much trouble, but next time I get back on it I'm going to go up slower, staying at a dosage for two days before advancing, instead of only one day.

The LLMD I see told me that A-Bab will help help me get through babesia treatment faster. It's been over a year, and I still have symptoms, so I'm pretty desperate. I've tried adding bactrim three times, and every time I add that I am immediately overrun with yeast and other yucky stuff. I'm afraid to try that again, but know I need to.

The way I understand getting through Lyme and cos treatments, it's like walking through fire. My Lyme friends have told me to expect to get worse before I get better. It's just difficult to do that when, as you say, things are already bad and adding more symptoms isn't enticing.

If you are concerned about the A-bab, maybe going a little slower will be helpful. I didn't get any symptoms until I got up to ten drops twice a day. Lots of people I've talked to max out at 4 or 5 drops twice a day.

Good luck with your treatment and I hope you are feeling better soon.

Great news! The way I see it, if we can ever feel good the potential exists to feel good more of the time. Glad to hear this seems to be working for you!

There's been a TON of buzz about A-Bab and A-Bart in the Facebook Lyme Community. It seems to be the new rage, among the top LLMDs. Dr. H in the state that has lots of people and cabs in it seems to be using it a lot. People are raving about it. So I think you are on to something. I'm just glad you are feeling better my friend!

Thanks, Healing. Can you tell me, are you up to the full 15 drops twice a day? I'm starting over and going more slowly this time, but the highest I ever got was 13.

You r welcome. I am energy tested by my MD & myself for what I take. I only got to 3 drops 2 x a day of both and had to go down to 1 of both 2x a day.Ramping slowly up to 3 again 2 X a day.At this point not sure how high I will go. When first tested we both got 20 drops 2 X a day. Yikes! We shall see what my body wants. [Smile]

They need to be taken 1 hr apart on empty stomach.Be sure to read the info on http://www.bioresourceinc.com I posted this up above, but here it is for those that missed it.Look on left side under Byron White formulas.Lyme for me is knocked down so we r mainly working on Babs and Bart. Just ramped to 3 drops 2 x a day and its kicking my butt. This too shall pass. [Smile] Need to do the same with A-Babs.
