Garlic is the major nutrient that helped me out of Lyme and all that comes with it. It is antibacterial, antiviral, antiparasitic, anti fungal/mold -- anti-toxic-metal. There are many posts on garlic on this site. Read all and you will be amazed at what this lowly plant can do.
It has to be freeze dried organically grown garlic. Don't use the garlic from China. I took between 9-12 fd garlic capsules for many months, always to titration (before I started to smell). It's easier to take as we know it now - dissolving capsules in a bit warm water and drinking it between meals.
Make sure you get rid of all acquired dysregulations aka allergies by checking out Allergie Immun first. The major toxins that caused us to get sick in the first place need to leave in order to then be able to heal. And most will not leave as long as you are allergic to them, i.e. the immune system no longer can deal with the toxins stuck away somewhere in the body.
Take care.

I take garlic. I have been using biopure recently. I only take one capsule daily but know that I should increase that more.
I take mine when I take my abx but that is because I have a hard time fitting everything in during the day and spacing antibacterials apart from probiotics etc.
Not sure if there is any reason to take it apart from abx but I have been taking my garlic with abx for a long time.
I recently just had a couple of weeks where I wasn't feeling up to par. During that time I was also out of my garlic pills. Not sure if that was a coincidence or not.
I do think that garlic is great stuff. It can do lots of different things.

I have two cloves a day, and I crush it between two spoons and then pour coconut oil on it before it goes down the hatch. That way it doesn't burn in the tummy.

- This is an excellent book. I highly recommend reading it before starting any kind of garlic therapy. It is full of great detail. -------------------------
The Healing Power of Garlic - by Paul Bergner 290 pages, 1995
Amazon has this for just $4.00 right now
Page 69: Caution regarding use in the presence of inflammation and irritation.
Pages 180 186: discussion regarding how to figure out when Incompatibility is an issue. Garlic is not for everyone, or not for all times.
(While the author focuses on matters of garlic, remember that if the hot herb garlic is not a good match for you, there are many other things to consider from the cool herb category, such as Olive Leaf Extract, Coptis, etc. - this is where a ND can be so very valuable. They KNOW all this.

Garlic can help protect the liver: -------------------
. . . For some, onions were looked upon as a potential savior. A Pennsylvania woman boasted of serving up onion omelets, onion salads, and onion soup with every meal. Not one of her eight children contracted the flu.
Meanwhile, a four-year-old girl from Portland, Oregon was said to have recovered fully from the flu after her mother dosed her with onion syrup and buried her from head-to-toe for three days in glistening raw onions. . . . -
