Hi all

So from all the research I have done, I know I have to treat bartonella first. But my question is : to what extent does bartonella affect collagen? Does it affect collagen just like Bb?
I have an excuriating feeling of pressure around the head, cellulite, stiffness, muscle twitching...and the list goes on...
My second question is: should I first concentrate on repairing my collagen? As I am very afraid that abx will first cause more harm to my collagen and thus be too dangerous for me... Please any advice would be very welcome because sometimes I really feel that my brain is literallay disintegrating...
Thanks a lot.

I know zero about collagen.... and little about bart.

Hopefully someone will be along to help you out!

We got a good LLMD and did everything she said and more... we follow Dr B's guidelines to the letter.

You probably already read that but just in case:
http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

I am lucky because I don't have the brain fog that comes with Lyme. I can research for my son and he can just concentrate on getting well. I realize that most people on this forum don't have that luxury.

Like you, most people on this forum are very sick and trying to find answers so that they can get better.

Start with the required supplements on the list in the pdf - then start adding others for specific symptoms.

Start with the magnesium and Omega-3, Omega-6 because of the muscle twitching and cognitive issues that you mentioned:
I have an excuriating feeling of pressure around the head, cellulite, stiffness, muscle twitching...and the list goes on...

Sounds to me like you have to get on some kind of abx... do you have an appt. with an LLMD?

Toxic mold was suppressing our immune systems, causing extreme pain, brain fog and magnifying symptoms. Four days after moving out, the healing began.

Momlyme, yes I have an appointment next week that is why I am trying to get prepared as much as possible, but yes my brain is so foggy, it'shard to know what's best... I looked at the guidelines too but I will trust my doctor, I just want to avoid bad decisions... Also, my nerves hurt very much, especially the cranial nerves, so yes I guess abx will be a must...
Thanks a lot.

Maybe this will help... an excerpt from the bottom of page 29 of Dr. B's Guidelines:

GREEN TEA
Green, but not black or white tea contains some of the most potent antioxidants around (80-100 times more
effective than vitamin C). I strongly recommend this to any patient with degenerative changes to the central
nervous system. At least four cups daily are needed to reap this benefit, and the tea must be decaffeinated. A
nice alternative is TeGreen capsules by Pharmanex. They contain 97% pure tea polyphenols and each
capsule is the equivalent of four cups of decaffeinated green tea. Take one to three daily.
CORDYMAX
Cordyceps is a well-known herb from Tibet that has been shown in clinical studies to improve stamina, fatigue,
and enhance lung and antioxidant function. It also raises superoxide dismutase levels, important to prevent
lesions in the central nervous system, which is why this (along with green tea) is essential if neurodegeneration
is part of your illness. The positive effects can be dramatic; should be used long term. USP- certified cordyceps
is available from Pharmanex as "CordyMax".

We use BioSil (recommended in Stephen Buhner's book) for rebuilding/strengthening collagen.
