Ok, so it's not hormonal according to obgyn AND my llmd.

Night sweats and then during the day the hot flushes are now turning my skin RED. Other people are commenting on how red I turn for a few minutes.

Does anyone else turn Red like this? [Embarrassed]

I know it's my bab's... and they have come and gone in the last year, but now this turning RED with it is NEW.

This happened to me after I took my b-complex. It turned out to be the niacin flush. Red, burny, hot, flushed, etc.. Any chance this could be your cause?

Not taking any B complex's. Only a B12 shot every 3 weeks.

Every few hours I get the flush/hot sweating/turning red, and then at night they last most of the night on and off. I know their the bab's thing... but the turning red is new with the sweating.

I'll be asking my llmd on Thurs.. but hadn't heard anyone else they actually turned red with these bab's hot flashes.

If there's no change in meds or supplements, maybe it can be something seemingly unrelated like soap, laundry detergent, etc. So when you get the sweats from babs, maybe it's interacting with something on your skin from hygiene or household products. Just a thought.

Or maybe the little bastards are on their way out, and they're ****ed. [Mad] Good riddance!!

Take care,
Tammy

I get flushes from time to time. I believe it is related to lyme & co but I'm not sure which one. Babs or bart probably.

I do too, and my face turns red and to me it's burning but no one else can feel the "heat." I'm on Biaxin/Bactrim/Flagyl pulse

It has to be the babs....

I have been on a month of Malarone now, so maybe I really am stirring up the bugs!

Yes, face, arms, chest... all beet red and radiating heat.

Hi hadlyme,

If it's not babesia or a side effect of the Malarone, could it be rosacea? I've had rosacea and frequent flushing for most of my life, but didn't know what it was until beginning in my 40s, about 15 years ago, when I started reading about it.

Rosacea and frequent flushing can have a lot of triggers--spicy foods, heat or cold, sun or wind, hot beverages, alcohol, excitement or embarrassment, exercise, and of course the flushing can be aggravated by hormonal changes.

My face is always red, and several times a day, at least, it turns bright red and almost purple on my cheeks and is burning hot. Fragrances, heat, getting rushed or stressed, and embarrassment are my worst triggers, and even bending over will cause facial flushing that doesn't clear right away.

I do have hot flashes, but unless they are really intense or I'm in a too-warm place, they stop in just a few minutes and I return to my normal rosy color.

I know the gut is involved with rosacea--leaky gut and all that--and I wouldn't be surprised if chronic infections and health conditions that involve the immune system are also involved.

I just picked up an old newsletter recently and read that taking betaine HCl with pepsin is sometimes an effective treatment for rosacea.

I used to take it frequently and still had a bottle on hand, so I took it with breakfast and dinner today. I have to say that I didn't flush nearly as much as I normally do today. Too soon to tell if it's really working, but I'm going to keep taking it and see how I do.

Another thing to consider is if you might be sensitive to whatever you are using for skin care and makeup. Washing the face gently in cool water (no scrubbing) is best, with mild unscented products that don't have a lot of really fragrant botanicals. Appropriate moisturizer for your skin condition.

If your skin is very sensitive, it's best to rotate your products and use something different every day.

Consider also your laundry products and any chemical fragrances or inhalants you're exposed to, like candles or plug-ins, perfume, car exhaust, cigarette smoke.

Take care,
Nutmeg

Thanks...
I turn red WITH the hot flash. Not eating anything, not doing anything. Lasts for like 3-5 mins with the hot flash and then gone. I'm not red in between so not a reaction to anything. It's an internal red look. Not surface thing.

Seeing my llmd today.

I went down in my rx of Armour this week and it seems to have leveled off the hot flashes/red flush. Maybe its from my thryoid and not babs...

I already have a perfume free chemical free life... and again, the red only comes on with the hot flash. Even at night.

Just our weird bodies doing something.

hadlyme,

The briefer the flushing the better! Hope it turns out to be a relatively easy fix with continued refinement of the Armour dosage.

Good luck,
Nutmeg
