I won't bore you with the same old do I have C diff questions. Dr. is slightly concerned, but so far has just had me increase probiotics. This is where things turn weird, and I am asking just in case anyone else has had a similiar situation.
For the past almost two weeks, my 4 month old puppy has had diarrhea. We have had him to the vet, and they did do a stool sample. However, he still is having problems. Brought another sample in today, and of course he has C diff.
So, my question is, do you think I should be more concerned about myself now having C diff. Not sure whether or not I gave it to the dog or he got it from me (or maybe neither). I was tested a couple weeks ago, and it was negative. Saw my LLMD last week and he is giving me an antibiotic break to see if that helps my stomach issues. However, I am now wondering if I should contact him in light of my puppy's diagnosis.
Any thoughts are appreciated. And just so you don't think we are disgusting at our house, we do use good hygeine techniques and have washed and scrubbed everytime the puppy has had an accident.

You should let your LLMD know that you've been exposed to C.diff. They may choose to treat you as a precaution. If not, be aware and get tested at the first sign of stomach discomfort or diarrhea.
C.diff is a hardy, you need to kill it with bleach. Regular carpet cleaners will not kill the spores. If you can, try to keep the puppy in a crate with absorbent pads until the diarrhea subsides. Take the puppy out to potty frequently (like every half hour) when you are playing with him. Wear gloves when cleaning up the poo.
Wash, scrub your hands with warm soapy water for at least 30 seconds (sing happy birthday song for timing). This physically removes the c.diff spores. Antibacterial gels and hand sanitizers will not kill the spores. Your whole family needs to be careful to wash hands after playing with puppy and before eating. Healthy people can get c.diff too.
