I don't think I had decreased urination, but it was like a florescent red color when I had to urinate. It hasn't gone away, but it's not as bright as before -- I'm still taking Rifampin.
Definitely make sure your hydrating yourself.

Definitely, drink a lot more fluid, as rifampin is hard on the kidneys. Lyme patients in general should drink a lot of water as lyme dehydrates us,

Also, in addition to not urinating, I'm shaking all over, didn't sleep last night, and feel like I am a nervous wreck!!!!
I have a meeting tomorrow about this newsletter I do, and I know the slightest friction is going to send me spiral downwards, probably into a sobbing mass of TBD's.....really awful feeling.
Can rifampin do all that to you?

In my experience, most people feel herxing from Rifampin pretty quickly and intense. I started with a 300mg dose, and worked up to 300mg 2x day within a week. I felt sick, tired, and a bit shaky from it.
I even noticed more when I switched from 300mg 2x daily to 600mg 1x day.
It last a few a weeks, but I'm doing much better because of Rifampin. You may want to call your LLMD and ask what he thinks.

Everyone I know that has taken this has had a difficult time.
I think the key is ramping up to the dosage of 600mg.
Some doctors may not recommend that, They recommend you should start off with 600 mg.

I'm with the theory that it's best to find out what your body can tolerate. I've started slow with every medication and loaded up to the normal dose within 3 to 7 days.
Had I pushed the pedal to the floor with Plaquenil, I might have had some real permanent damage. Not just end up in the ER, cause I did end up there.
I agree though, Rifampin is regularly discussed as one of the the toughest to tolerate, and also the biggest benefit to many.
It wasn't the easiest thing to get through, but I'm positive it helped me tremendously.

Thanks guys. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Slept better last night. Still terribly bloated. Hope that gets better because it can be a deal breaker.
