for the last several weeks i have had the worst headache of my life. my temples actually throb and my ears -- the pressure feels like they are going to explode.

and i've actually had blood in my left ear. sooooo, i call my primary. told them about symptoms adn my high blood pressure.

ya'll know i was in the er for pancreatitis and my bp was 207 over 188.

so the primary says not my problem, you're on bp meds from a cardiologist, call him.

so i call the cardiologist. they said diovan and nadolol will not cause headaches. what have you done recently? i said, uh pancreatitis, and had dental work done.

they said oh ok, call your dentist, it's probably tmj....

since i had an appt today with obgyn i told him. he said can't do anything but i can check your thyroid. which he at least did.

so now i'm taking nadolol and diovan for high blood pressure, lexapro for depression, zocor for high cholesterol, premarin for low estrogen, and 10 mg of valium at night to help me sleep. gosh dang it, i'm getting all pilled out!!!

but why in the world won't anybody take this headache and ear pain seriously? i guess i'll have to wait until the dentist sees me on the 27th of december to look at that new bridge.

and i just bet he'll refer me back to the tmj specialist. i used to wear a splint at night but when i got the bridge replaced, the old splint wouldn't fit.

anybody got any money???

i just feel like i'm going to keel over with this headache, and then i'll say "i TOLD you i was sick"....and nobody is listening...

Don't know what if anything you have tried for your headache but here are things that have worked for me in the past.

Magnesium is helpful for migraines but you need to monitor the dose so you don't have loose stools.
I personally have used Magnesium Glycinate and Malate forms without any distress.
The Myer's cocktail completely eliminated the headaches instantaneously. That is an IV and has magnesium in it.

Of course, the headache and ear ringing could be tied together. It could be your jaw, it could be the result of some mixture of medications, it could be a form of migraine, it could be your neck is out of alignment,it could be some sort of allergy, but all that doesn't help you now.

Do you have any sinus symptoms? Stuffiness, runny nose, post nasal drip, itchy eyes, ear fullness?

Food additives ( preservatives, sweeteners, flavorings) are always a factor to consider with headaches. Additives are often hidden in packaged food/drinks and are known by many names.

When I went through a 5 month migraine, I eliminated food in boxes and cans. I cooked fresh veggies, ate hormone free meat and no grains at all.
Those changes really helped.
I also added Lyrica for a while and that helped too. I know, just what you want is another pill!

Maybe using some ice on your neck might help?
Make sure your pillow isn't propping up your neck at night. Your head should be in line with your body, not kinked up or down and sleeping on your stomach is not the best position for your neck.

Hope you feel better soon.

i can't take any over the counter sinus meds as i get real bad heart whatcha call it, palpitations, irregular beats and all.

i think it's called pseudo something or emphedrine or something like that.

but yeah, i'm constantly stopped up and get up in the middle of the night with one side of my nose completely blocked and i'm gasping for breath. been to ent....everything ok....

but with all my meds now i'm afraid to take anything for the sinus...especially with my bp.

Is allergy testing out of the question?

I guess there is a reason you can't take treatments, like desensitization injections.

How about using Neti Pot to rinse out your nasal passages?

Dr. Oz even demonstrated how to do it on one of his shows.
Supposedly, it washes out the daily collection of allergy particles and relieves the load on your system.

If you can help your nose, that will help your ears.

Randi,

Do you have amalgams? Silver mixed with mercury fillings? You could have mercury poisoning if they did not use proper precautions when working on your teeth.

http://www.mercurypoisoned.com/should.html

Look up "Smoking Teeth = Poison Gas" on YouTube and you will see why even cleaning metal fillings has killed people.

This book is free to read (online)
http://www.chlorellafactor.com

A quote from page 10

Chlorella can help protect you against this mercury be escorting the mercury out of your body before it can do damage. If you take chlorella before and after receiving dental work, you will help protect yourself from the toxic effects of mercury fillings. This is especially important if you decide to have your mercury fillings removed, as more and more people are doing. The very process of drilling them out results in a tidal wave of mercury exposure in your body. Having a stomach full of chlorella offers considerable protection against the mercury bits you inevitably swallow during this procedure.

Take care of yourself!

randi, I'm concerned about your bp.

how long ago was it 207/188? Was that when you had the pancreatitis? do you take it at home yourself also?
Was it taken at the dentist? Was it taken at the obgyn? do the meds control your bp?
Did you tell the dr. who prescribes your bp meds about the bleeding from your ear?

Often, people will have a different reading when they take their bp themselves at home than when it is taken in the doctor's office because they may be more comfortable in their own home.

The throbbing temples sounds like a high bp thing to be concerned about, but I don't want to alarm you.

The ear pain/ pressure/clogging: I have headaches and clogged ears/head (usually my left) but it's a lot like you describe and it's one of those lovely lyme things.

I know your under stress lately. Emotional stress and the pain of pancreatitis and dental problems are all things that can elevate blood pressure.

my home monitor was showing very high also. it was taken yesterday at the obgyn and it was 148 over something. doc said it was high.

it is lower now that i'm home.

could be all the stress but man, my head hurts.

what gripes me is that my gp would not see me, neither would the cardio...

I can see why the gp wants you to see the cardio, b/c he's treating your bp.

If the diastolic, the bottom number, is over 90 or 100 at home for an extended period of time (days, weeks), you should be calling the cardio to report this AND the headache.

It shouldn't go above like 140-150/90-100 or so, especially on meds., if you have symptoms like a throbbing headache. If your bp monitor also indicates the pulse rate, report that to them as well.

Whatever instructions he/she gave you about this you should follow (not what I say, lol).

I would expect that the cardio would at least give you instructions about adjusting meds or going to the er or something.

Randi, I think this is important.

Randi, all of your symptoms may be linked to an H Pylori infection. I am dealing with the same problems, and I am being treated for H pylori and doing heavy metals chelation. it helps!

Randi, did you ever get tested for h.pylori? I seem to remeber you talked about it being a possible cause of symptoms in the past, but I don't remember that you ever got tested or treated for it.

Shahbah, hbp is a symptom of h.pylori? or is it that the bp becomes/stays elevated due to the stress of the infection/strain on the body?

Either way, this HAS TO be addressed.

Carly
It could be from the stress h pylori causes but also from babesia, and we tend to forget that babesia is a parasite, thus probbaly hiding in the stomach and the gut... are you treating for it? As it alos can cause high blood pressure , if it affects the vains it can certainely cause debilitating headaches...
