Don't drink RO water unless you add minerals. It will deplete you.

I always drink RO water. What kind of minerals do you add?

I drink nothing but RO water as well, and don't add minerals or salt. Kidsgotlyme, do you have symptoms of chronic dehydration too?
I'm confused, because I thought that water only had trace minerals in it and that food was our biggest source of minerals. I thought that drinking RO water without minerals wouldn't be that huge of a difference than drinking regular water...?
I've just been very faint, have blood pressure and heart problems, etc...just wondering if the RO water isn't helping.

Forgetfulgirl- I'm sure I'm dehydrated because I don't drink enough water. I HAVE starting adding in iodine recently because of something I read about not getting enough iodine with RO water.
I'm wondering if we need to add something more than just iodine.
BTW,I also don't get any iodine from my salt either because I use real salt.

I've heard you must add minerals to RO water.
It was explained to me that the body requires minerals in order to assimilate or digest the water. And if the water does not have minerals in it, it will leach minerals from your own body.

The QUESTIONS are confusing. ) You can't "get" deyhydrated by drinking clean water from ANY source, whether it be a reverse osmosis machine or a clear mountain brook.
Just the opposite. You're "hydrating" yourself. And any excess will be passed as urine.
As far as minerals... yes, we all get most of our minerals from the foods we eat. The rest from supplements & (certain) "drink".

I don't add minerals all the time with my RO Water but I use Sea Salt which contains a lot of trace minerals. I also drink Alcer products that have electrolytes and trace minerals.
I do have Trace Mineral drops, though and use them on occassion.
