I have been trying to determine if I have bart and have made an appt to see a LLMD. I am on Day 5 of taking Cipro as I have read it hits bart. Last night I felt my back burning and when I looked in the mirror I saw these red streaks...I have never seen these before. I did not scratch in those areas. I know some of the marks are from my clothing, but not these red streaks.

Does this look like a Bart rash, am I herxing from the Cipro? Should I bring the photos to my LLMD appointment?

Thanks for your input, kind of freaking out since I saw them!!

Take your photos to your doctor appointment.

That's look more similar to what I deal with, and another friend I exchange e-mails.

It's not a rash per se, but your skin gets very "soft." Those look like lines from the mattress or whatever you were sleeping on, and caused creasing in your skin.

I have not been able to identify this yet, but I still deal with it. And, it became much much worse when I was on Plaquenil.

Thanks for your feedback, I am just so hoping to have something concrete to bring to my LLMD appointment if possible.

nicky, do you have small red blood blister looking bumps? or tiny scratches that come and go? or stretch marks in strange places?

one thing that i noticed was that the marks on your back seemed to be in the same arching shape as the hip streaks in steve's pics. reminds me of rays of rising sun.

Yes, I DO get tiny scratches that come and go and itchy red skin bumps a LOT. I have been checking for stretch marks, but I cannot tell really. I see some, but then they are gone the next time I look. Does that mean bart too perhaps or something else?

And the arched shaped of the red marks were what made me take a pic for my appointment. They do kind of look like Steve's pics.

I don't think I was laying down for a long time, and the red streaks were hot to the touch and kind of raised. They dissapeared after a while.

I know the other marks were clothes marks which I have been getting for a while, I take it as inflammation I guess.

I will say on day 5 of Cipro and my brain fog has lifted significantly, and my daily headaches have faded a bit...it's giving me some hope. I hope I can get an appointment soon.

I was diagnosed as a first symptom, with eye issues, blepharitis, never had it before. I see that the treatment for it is a month of Doxy which I found interesting so I am going to see my eye doctor for a prescription to see if that helps too.

nicky,

Have you been tested for co-infections yet...specifically Babesia? I'm looking for a connection.

When I was on Plaquenil, a drug used to treat Babesia and Lyme, I had a major increase in skin inflammation and nerve pain. I woke up about a week into treatment and was COVERED in mattress marks, and my feet were beet red.

If you touched my foot, it would leave a white fingerprint for a long delayed response.

Your marks look like your shorts or something on your backside, like boxers. I have elastic marks on my ankles from socks, and marks from my boxers around my waste all the time.. It's not as bad as it was, but that says little about the infection thats causing it.

tiny scratches is bart for me. mine are usually 1/2 inch or so long.

i get them on my wrists and hands. they appear suddenly, looking like a 2 day old scratch ready to scab, stay for a day or two and are gone.

they feel like regular skin, no pain like a scratch would feel like. my husband got 2 on his back that were about 4-5 inches long.

I asked about the stretch marks as my daughter has them behind her knees.

i met a fellow lyme sufferer last week and she has stretch marks on her shoulders! crazy! (she has very obvious symptoms of bart & babs as well.)

do you have tiny blue veins right at the skin's surface, most likely on your legs? my husband has a band of these right under his chest, across the entire front of his body almost in a straight line.

Might you have swollen ankles that come to a "ledge" on the bottom? and bruised looking colors on the inside of your foot at the arch? all are bart for me.

my swollen ankles are almost gone, after 11 months of treatment! haven't gotten those scratches in a while. and the best - all foot pain is gone! yeah!

Nicky,

I'm just guessing by your name, but your female?

If so, that would make sense because in your second photo you can see the strap from your bra wrapping around your back...just like an elastic band.

Thats what I'm talking about.

Wolfed,

You mean you think the elastic band marks from socks, etc. are a symptom?

I always thought it was from being so swollen.

Now that my ankles are less swollen (resolving w/ treatment) the markings are less severe.

Hmmm, new thought for me.
