I'm on day 11 of Mepron and I haven't felt this bad in MONTHS. I can barely get out of bed, and I feel nauseated even with ample fat. I'm also much much dizzier (a different kind of dizzy than I normally have). I have no idea if it's just side effects or some die off, but it is intense.

For those who've been through this, how long did it last? I've heard that your body eventually adjusts to the meds, but I don't know how much longer I can stick this out!

Lyme, Bart, possible Babs
Currently on IV Doxy, Bactrim, Zithromax, Nystatin, Mepron
Been on nearly every antibiotic since 10/09

About 60% improvement. Dizziness, air hunger remain.

Sounds like major herxing. You can ask your doc.

Are you taking care of everything? Yeasts/virus/parasites/protecting your bowels/ electrolyte replacements for cell loss/ etc.?

It took me a yr. to see a fork in the road.

But there were many times I had to stop for a day or two and regroup because of fevers etc...

I started Mepron 2 years into treatment. Before Mepron I was making alot of progress, strength returned, fatigue lifted, started going back to the gym, but still had some lingering symptoms.

Started the Mepron and the herxing kicked my butt. It was obviously hitting bugs that the other stuff didn't touch. Mepron goes after babesia (tested pos.) and according to my LLMD also goes after cyst form of borrelia.

My herxing felt like the flu without an obvious fever, fatigue, stabbing pains, migrating parasthesias, twitching, blurry vision.

Still on Mepron, 6 mos. now, but herxing is much milder and more manageable.

I would stay the course. Better days are coming for you. You are killing bugs bigtime.

I'm going to the gym today!

Sick since at least age 6, now 67. Decades of misdiagnosis. Numerous arthritic, neuro, psych, vision, cardiac symptoms. Been treating for 7 years, incl 8 mos on IV. Bart was missed so now treating that.

Thanks for the encouragement. It's really tough to stay the course when you feel SO SO SO much worse on the meds! I was functional prior to Mepron.

Mepron hit me very hard, too, but for me it was four weeks into it and lasted about two weeks. Then I'd cycle and feel bad every 24 days. Eventually the two weeks every month shortened and it was only a few days every month.

Were you on zith before? I couldn't handle zith, I had to take biaxin. Something else to consider .....

I am on Zith, and that doesn't seem to bother me. I am allergic to Biaxin.

Is there anything I can add to help with the herx or side effects?
