Hi,

I have been ramping up my doxy intake to 400mg over the last 5 days. Yesterday was my first 400mg day (200mg for lunch and dinner). I felt fine after taking both except the first dose made me a bit nauseous. I took the second dose for dinner at around 7pm and felt fine.

I took some probiotics (PB8) immediately before laying down for bed at 10pm. Upon lying down, I felt like there was something in my throat. This lasted all night and is still currently going on. I am afraid to take anymore Doxy until I know what's going on.

Is this a symptom of the PB8 or the Doxy? The was not a symptom of my LD before, so it seems to be a side effect from something. I just hope it goes away soon. [Frown] I never had any GI issues prior and would feel like an idiot for bringing them on myself.

Thanks!

Be sure not to lie down for a couple hours after taking Doxy - it can cause alot of issues with acid reflux especially coming up into your throat (this was according to my LLMD).

Not sure if that is what is going on but could be an issue.... TG

Yeah, but this was a 3 hour break. Is that not enough? Maybe I need to ramp up more slowly?

I just want it to go away soon... I keep chugging water like there's no tomorrow currently.

Ask your doctor.. but it seems you should be spacing the doxy a little farther apart than "lunch and dinner."

Make sure to take the doxy in the middle of your meals. And don't lie down for at least 30-60 minutes after taking it. (sounds like you did that)

PB8 is not likely the problem. However, some people with lyme have trouble swallowing .. so it could be a symptom from Lyme that you have not experienced yet.

(a herx can bring on new Lyme symptoms)

Also.. PB8 is not very effective in my opinion. It MIGHT be if you take about 8 pills per day. I am now convinced that we need at least 100 CFU's per day while on abx.

These are really good probiotics:

PS.. You may want to call your LLMD on this swallowing issue just to be safe.

Take your doxy 12 hours apart. I took it at 6 am and 6 pm.

Take probiotics 3 hours later.

I suspect you got a PB-8 stuck in your throat. Happened to me once.

I figured the lunch and dinner thing was probably not far enough apart. I haven't seen my LLMD doctor just yet. This was a prescription given to me by my GP. I figured that Doxy wouldn't hurt since it was one of the more common drugs taken for this condition.

I see my LLMD at the end of January, so I was just trying to get a head start as I haven't had symptoms for too long just yet. Will dropping to 200mg for a bit be a bad idea?

When do you all take your meds? How do you space them out? It's difficult for me to try and figure out a schedule as you can't take some with others.
