Hi,

I was having GI problems with taking Doxy, so my GP suggest Doryx instead (this is all in the meantime while I wait to see my LLMD).

My local pharmacy only has the 150mg tablets. These are scored tablets, so I can cut them in half, however, there's no way to make 75 add up to 400. [Wink]

Should I just start off on 300mg since I had so much trouble on generic Doxy? Or should I take 375 or 450? Is there really that much of a difference considering Doryx is better absorbed by your gut?

Thanks!

Another consideration is that people react differently to the same dosage, so I don't really think there is any way to answer your question. The lower dose might be a way to start, see how you react, then switch to higher if things are going well. This is just a stopgap anyway, until you get to lyme doc. Hope your Rx will last until then. That might be a factor in how much you take.

Pharmacy told me not to split the Doryx as extended release.

Daughter still had GI symptoms on Doryx.

Hope it works out for you.

I would personally take the 300. When will you see the LLMD?

I'll see him on 1/27. I will try 300 and see how it goes. The first pill was a million times better than the plain old doxy.

I am also going to take some Prilosec as well. I figure I can at least use it to get these antibiotics down with destroying my GI.
