Although I tested negative for babesia and don't seem to have any real symptoms of it, my LLMD decided to try treating for it, since I am not really seeing much improvement.
He said that by my next visit in three weeks, that I should be seeing "something". Well, I have been on it over a week, and I have not seen anything...herx nor improvement...any thoughts?

I was on it, and it made me VERY VERY sick. I went from functional to bedridden almost instantly. My LLMD said that they should know if it's working in 4-8 weeks, but I couldn't handle it, so I'm going to try something else.
-------------------- Lyme, Bart, possible Babs Currently on IV Doxy, Bactrim, Zithromax, Nystatin, Mepron Been on nearly every antibiotic since 10/09

I started it a week and a half ago. I got very sick afterwards but I also had a cold so I don't know what was from what. I am still weak and tired but not as bad. My dizziness is better.
I went to the ER two nights ago because inflammation of the vagus nerve causing pain in jaw and acid reflux which was misdiagnosed as a heart attack. I thought the problem might be mepron related. Who knows.

What other abx are you taking along with mepron? Are you also on zithromax?
I didn't notice a difference immediately, and never herxed on Mepron. I really didn't know it was working, until I looked back and realized that so many symptoms were gone. Then, after ten months on mepron, switched to malarone, and had symptoms return. So, I knew the mepron worked for me.

I am also on IV Rocephin, oral zithromax M-F and flagyl on the weekends.
Did you have symptoms and/or + bloodwork for babesia?

I had an equivocal babesia test and negative lyme test through Igenex. Like you, no bite, no rash.
My llmd suspected babesia. I personally think, since I have responded so well to protozoa treatment, that babesia is my main culprit.
Sounds like you are on a good treatment plan. I have been on Mepron 2 tsp. twice a day (started out at 1 tsp bid), tindamax 500 mg. twice a day, and zithromax 600 mg. once a day (but was just cut back to 300 mg.).
Give yourself a month or two and see if you begin to see results. Have you ever considered electro-dermal testing to determine the right protocol for you? I used this to corroborate that the medication and/or supplements were what my body needed. I had a difficult time believing I had lyme and babesia, until I started responding to treatment.

I hate to be the bummer here, but I was on Mepron (currently on it again b/c I had to recently take Pred. for asthma stuff) for 2 years. I was Quest and blood smear positive for duncani. My titers did start dropping after about a year.
