Hi,
I have been asked by my doctor to take InterfacePlus enzymes which contain EDTA. Does anybody have experience taking this supplement? Is it considered safe?

It is supposed to be able to break biofilms.

I read on some websites that EDTA can be bad for you and can remove certain essential metals (like zinc) from your body.

How important is it to break biofilms in the treatment of Lyme? I don't see a lot of discussion on this topic in this forum.

I am taking EDTA to detox for mercury and other heavy metals. I have been having some major brain fog issues... and I feel like I am in a bigger fog than usual. Today was my first day... hope I can remember where the kitchen is to make dinner.

I bought Source Naturals brand and it says to take 2 a day for 5 days and then take 9 days off. On the off days, take a multi mineral supplement to replenish calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and selenium.

The SN brand has 1 gram of EDTA(calcium diodium ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid) plus Calcium (140mg)& Sodium (121mg)

May health be with you!

Toxic mold was suppressing our immune systems, causing extreme pain, brain fog and magnifying symptoms. Four days after moving out, the healing began.

I did IV EDTA and my LLMD had me supp zinc on the off days. I think a multi-vitamin should also be taken as well as extra D.

I take this product and like it. I take a liquid mineral supplement every day, plus extra magnesium and zinc.

Breaking the Bio-film....

that is the question.

The answer is evasive and it is also a major one. Biofilms are produced by micro-organisms as a line of defense and should be taken very seriously.

This film shields the organism from your defenses and yes...it is a major discussion on this board at times. (You've evidently missed those... ;-) )

Enzymes are vital in this battle as they 'consume' the film and break it down. In fact, the great American diet unfortunately has produced a very bad situation of 'over-cooked' food. When we heat our food too much, it destroys the enzymes our system requires for proper function.

So....to answer your question on Bio-films and Enzymes....VERY important.

Now, stay after those metals - the bad bug like em too.

Chow,

Trout ;-)
