I know this has been discussed in the past, but I'm wondering if anyone has any new information/studies they can share on the link between high cholesterol and bacterial infections. I was recently tested and my cholesterol is high, even though I eat VERY healthy, and only weigh 110 lbs. In my research, I'm finding that cholesterol is actually a GOOD thing and increases in the presence of a bacterial infection, such as Lyme Disease.
I found this on another website: "LDL is like a bandage put on a wound in your arteries. It did not cause the wound. LDL also grabs endotoxins and removes them from your blood to be stored in fat, where they are less likely to cause end organ damage. Very high LDL in the presence of CFS or FMS type of symptoms is a red flag for Lyme Disease, which has the exact same symptoms as CFS and FMS. The body raises LDL dramatically in Lyme Disease to save it from the potent endotoxins produced when the causative pathogen (Borrelia) dies."
Does this ring true for other, or does anyone have any more information regarding this topic?
Of course, my doctor wants to put me on statins, won't be happening...obviously.
Thanks! Rachellemarie

Yes, same here! HDL and Tri are in the good range. Only my LDL is too high. Interesting what I'm finding...

I just read many reports on HPU By Dr. K... when you said this low HDL - High LDL it rang a bell.
See if any of the other indicators seem familiar.
According to Dr. K. 4 of 5 people with Lyme Disease and co infections have HPU (aka KPU)
Other Lab Markers for HPU *WBC less than 5000/mcL(due to low levels of zinc) *High LDL / Low HDL *Low normal alkaline phosphatase(less than60U/L) *Low omega‐6 fatty acids in red cell membrane test *Low taurinein amino acid profile *High MCV (size of red blood cells) *WBC and RBC zinc and manganese levels may be normal while biopsies from bone and CNS are completely deficient *Bone biopsies are a reliable predictor of HPU *Severe deficiencies of zinc, manganese, lithium, calcium, magnesium, and molybdenum are often found

High Cholesterol is overrated. Bacterias are underrated.
Don't buy into the numbers too much. There are plenty of other countrys with higher cholesterol numbers than the US and they aren't dying from heart disease at the rate we are.
It's about quality of food.
Again - high cholesterol is a scam.

Thanks so much for the links! Will definitely read them all! This is confirming the truth! I read on Mercola.com that when you investigate who exactly came up with the numbers on the blood test in terms of what is too high, it links back to people working for Pfizer!! The ones that sell the high cholesterol pills that millions of people are now on!!!
