I know lyme is extremley toxic. But I was wondering if any research has been done on the toxins of lyme. Does anyone know what theyre called. are they also found in other illnesses. what are the toxins of lyme? I've heard people say ammonia is one of them. dont know if theres any truth to it tho. I'm assuming some medical specialists has to have studied the lyme toxins.
Also, besides other Tick Borne Diseases, are there any other infections that are nearly as toxic? I'm thinking hepatitis. anything else?

There was a HUGE thread on this. At the end, basically Sparkle7 said no proof has ever been shown this toxin exists.

I did come across a short article a while back where Dr D's research team at BU (maybe 10 years ago) had isolated the toxin. Try a google search

I just got this from the thread about the ILADS Conference Takeaways:
"Probenecid may help reduce Quinolinic acid - a toxin produced by Borrelia".
Probenecid is a medicine usually prescribed for gout, but some LLMD's use it to boost the level of abx in the blood.

Well, no Lyme toxin has been found, but that's not to say one doesn't exist.
However, I think while Lyme and/or CFS can induce a biotoxin illness, I don't think biotoxin issues are directly related to the Lyme bacteria itself. It seems to be bio-accumulation from poorly functioning detox pathways.
I think this is where people are getting confused. As far as I know, studies don't really exist when it comes to the biotoxin aspect, but I haven't searched too hard.
I had to jumpstart my methylation cycle to get toxins under control. They are very real, and way understudied. But not to fear; studies will eventually roll in (in about 20 years from now?).

^ EXACTLY I was thinking the same thing randi
I think thats proof right there that lyme emits toxins. the fact that we have to detox and the fact that we feel better after detoxing.
