My doctor wants me to start minocycline today, Ihave tried practically every oral abx. and iV Rocephin. I have been off abx. for 5 weeks and feeling very bad. I was last on amixicillin and biaxcin and had some good results with it but then started to slip.
He wants to try and zap the bugs with the minocycline and says I might herx and then feel better. I hope so because I am at my wits end. I haven't felt this bad in a while. Something has to give me hope!
Any minocycline experiences out there and did you take it alone or with another abx.?
Thanks!
Laurie

I am not a mino person, but I've heard a lot of talk about it. (Hopefully others will chime in and share their stories.)

One- it can be quiet heavy duty for kicking Lyme. It can also cause some dizziness (worst at first then tapers down) and that is why some folks take it before bed time.

Sometimes the doses are too high and folks need to lower them and gradually work back up.

Hope you do feel better soon!

I started mino about a month ago after I ha to stop DOXy becuase it made me too nauseous. I took about a 3 week break then started on them. I am not nauseaous, and I am not dizzy. I feel tired and a little chilled though. I take 100 mg at about 5pm avery night, an hour before dinner on an empty stomach. Hope this help you.

Like Tincup says, you may need to start at a lower dose and work up.

Unfortunately for me and some others it became unbearable after around 8 days. My head felt inflamed, was completely dizzy and I thought, I'm getting crazy.

20 years before though, after I had acquired Lyme, I could tolerate it well.

Am having a tough time getting to more than 50mg of mino. per day. Terrible fatigue, dizzy, really off balance. I'm pulsing it too.

Wow-I just read all the responses. I have been on mino. 100mg twice a day and feeling a little more dizzy and nauseated but not that much different.
Yesterday I had a terrible headache and my husband was hoping that I was herxing. I don't think so.
I wish the electric shock feeling in legs and arms would just stop!
I have been feeling really down lately and am trying to be hopeful.
Thanks for all the comments and I hope you are all doing okay today...
