I just started a 16 week course of bicillin injections. I'm wondering if anyone has had success with this, especially in terms of head wooziness and pressure. I've been treated with orals for the last 7 months and they seemed to have cleared up *most* of my symptoms. The one outstanding (and most annoying) is the head wooziness while walking. After receiving my spect scan results (which showed moderate global hypoperfusion), my LLMD thought Bicillin shots would be better at crossing the blood brain barrier than the orals. I just wanted to see if there were any success stories out there.

Suggest you use the "Search" function, type in the word "bicillin" and read all of the past posts about bicillin injections.

Yes, bicillin injections have really helped me a lot, more than any orals have. I have been on them for two to three years and I know they help because I always feel better and have more energy the next day after I do a shot.

Kidd Abtout to start the shots in feb and worried about any hex type reactions. I have only been on oral omnicef for six weeks and turned down by insurance for IV rocephin.
I was Clinicaly (not cdc or igenex) positive for neuro lyme by my LLMD in NYC. I feel a bit better from the severe head shocks I was having these past few weeks but dizziness and foggy head still persists. Wondering if the shots will help.
Do you get them one a week by doc or have someone do it for you? Heard they are painful? A bit scared....thanx

I have been getting bicillin for 2.5 yrs. I improved greatly improved(and the head wooziness left). I felt so good just before Christmas 2009 that I thought I would be well in just a few mos. We had spread my shots out and at that point I was getting them (2) every 2 weeks.
Then we spread them out to 3 and symptoms started coming back and then to 4. Finally, I got it through my LLMD's head that I was going backwards. I let it go way to long and have not recovered the ground I lost.
Last visit my LLMD informed me that my ins. won't pay for the bicillin script anymore. I since got the letter myself, which included a whole list of injectibles they won't fill. To have my LLMD give them to me would cost a lot more money.
I think we should've either kept up the 2 wks. instead of wasting a whole yr. or that I would have gone backwards when we stopped it anyway. However, my LLMD says it is what made her better.
I had the bull's eye 11 yrs. before diagnosis and I believe I had Lyme a lot longer than that (most of my life). I had many diagnoses by then and was told "the damage is done", so maybe for someone without all the damage or who wasn't left untreated so long would fair better.
I don't want to discourage anyone about bicillin. I have heard that it is a very good treatment and like I said I am a lot better than I was.

Yeah. I hear it's one of the best. I'm on omnicef now only because my insurance doesn't cover it.

I am getting two shots ( once in each cheek!) once a week for four months. I only had one so far so I can't speak to the pain yet but I'm sure it builds up over the course of treatment. I will take it if it means my head wooziness might possibly go away!! I haven't noticed any improvement yet, it's still too early. One thing I did have was a major headache two days after the first shot. I also started rifampin the same day so not sure what caused it.

With me it was painful right off and for a good while. Then at some point they didn't hurt anymore, most of the time anyway. Even the rare time it does hurt it isn't half the pain it was.
Also, I got bumps from it that took forever to go away. It seems now that my dr. is giving me the injections higher up I am not getting the bumps.

How sore does your butt actually get? I sit all day at work. Would I be ok with this? I'm skinny 6'1 165 lbs.

If it is like my shots, it won't be in the area you actually sit on. You might have to sit a little forward in your chair.
Also, ask if they could give it a little higher, like in the hip area just above your butt. That is where I get mine. I am thin, not as thin as you are, but I seem to have a little more padding there, too.
