Hello again,

Doc also suggested saccharomyces boulardii. Have you any experience with this?

My tongue can't seem to stay clear at the moment. I want to stay ahead of yeast.

Thanks.

Dear Tammy N.,
I have Candida, and have taken FloraStor. It does help. Another wonderful thing about it is that this probiotic is not harmed by antibiotics like others are. Since antibiotics destroy bacteria, L. Acidophillus is often wiped out along with the Borrelia. You do have to obtain the Saccharomyces from the pharmacy, but even Wal-Mart orders it in if necessary.

Sincerely,
Jin

Any one on long term ABX should be on saccharomyces boulardii.

It is a type of yeast, so yes ABX won't kill it but it functions as a probiotic for our purposes. You don't need to get it at a pharmacy.

You can get it on line or at vitamin shoppe. Jarrow makes one that is less expensive than Florestor.

Many use it to avoid gettting C. difficile.

It is good stuff. LLMD recommended the refrigerated version from Pure Encapsulations and I take it before bed.

I use Florastor and get it at drugstore.com for the cheapest price I've seen.

If you are taking anti fungals, you need to make sure you take the SB and the AF with a couple of hours separation.

I am taking probiotic as well as SB.

Dear Abxnomore,
I am glad you posted this! I was always told you had to get it at a pharmacy. Of course, we live in the land of idiots. Anything easier on the pocket book that does not sacrifice quality is a good thing. It appears to be an excellent option to explore.

Dear one4islands,
I am going to check it out! Our pharmacy makes you order it in ahead of time. Even with shipping, you probably still save some money. Believe it or not, a GI doctor recommended it. This was surprising considering they are usually the last to know about this type of thing.

Sincerely,
Jin

checked out amazon.com, iherb, and vitacost. there's a brand that's much cheaper than florastor.

also remember to take this two hours away from abx and vitamins. at least i do.

i take one in the morning and one at night.

Actually, you CAN take this with abx. Since it's a yeast and not a bacteria, abx won't kill it.
